Have any of you ever written a letter to Pokemon?

Hey everyone,

Not to bring up 1st edition stamp topic but have any of your ever written a letter to the Pokemon Trading Card Game in regards to this? Specifically Tsunekazu Ishihara? I was thinking how a mass amount of letters over a period of time could slightly(significantly) influence this decision.

A little story.

When I was applying to dental school it’s impossible to speak with the dean of admissions at any school. We are just peon pre-dental student wannabes. Over 3,000 of us battling for a spot in a class of 90. We only get to speak with the secretaries about our application. Well, I had this “genius” idea to keep calling my top programs to ask about our application each week for months. They kept telling me,“Yes, your application is complete and there isn’t any other information we can give you. You don’t have to call anymore to check.” Well I kept calling! I would write down new questions I had and keep saying this one main thing, “I am very interested in your program and it’s my top program.” Everyone who was applying said it was a complete waste of time and you’re annoying them. I obtained interviews at all my top schools and was accepted into my top program never knowing if that actually did anything.

Fastforward over 5 years later to a small room in a convention center in Atlanta, Georgia. I was at a dental conference and they had a special room with food and bar for all the University of Florida College of Dentistry Alumni. There sat the dean of admissions. Things were different now. We are more of equals and not those peons of before. Having a couple drinks with the dean of admissions she decides to tell a story about a very persistent pre-dental student, me, to a huge group of others. She said that she would always eat lunch with the whole office staff and when I called again, the one secretary would tell her about it. “Oh guess who called again today? Yes, Matthew! Oh what did he say today?” They would all chuckle. But that persistence paid off. She said that it said something about me and that she still remembers it to this day because no one else did that.

Neat eh?

So, has anyone else written a letter, hand written, to Pokemon? Sent an email or otherwise contacted them and gotten a response?

I think I’m going to start sending letters, i have no clue how expensive that will be, but thought it couldn’t hurt. Not just about the 1st edition but other things as well. You never know who will read it and how it can eventually make a change.

Thoughts?

-Matthew

Great story showing the benefits of persistence. An ex used to say, “Being shy hurts your chances. Now cmon down to the stage pit and dance.”

It’s funny you should mention this Mathew! I’ve been thinking about sending Pokémon my resume just for giggles. I would also include my background on how Pokémon helped me obtain sobriety and it is my new passion. At the bottom of my resume I would put a link to my efour profile;)
