i picked this up a few years back at an auction for about $100. I think its genuine, but i dont think they changed in price. there are sellers with a healthy supply of these though, so i expect i need to hold for much longer before i sell.

This set was literally at clearance+ pricing for years and years, until the trading card boom of 2020. There was such a surplus of these boxes that people couldn’t move them at 30 dollars/box, and MIGHT have snagged a sale or two when they did a sale on them dropping to ~20.
Trading card boom of 2020 sure helped a lot of dead TCGs. There was also speculation that these got bought up by people wanting the WOTC wrapper to reseal Pokemon boxes, but I never saw any information confirming this on a large scale.

Yeah I didnt do much research or didnt even have time to do research. I was just collecting some Harry potter stuff at the time. I happened to get a 1st edition, 1st print, UK edition, specfically the Omnia Print, of Goblet of Fire in mint condition at the same auction for about $100 too. It had literally never been read through. It was genuinely mint condition except for part of the book jacket that had a very minor crease on a part of it when it was being displayed standing up and the book jacket slid beneath the book making it a bit creased on the bottom of the jacket.
I was such a fool to let it go for $350. Even though it wasnt signed, I have never seen a copy like the one i had since. Its near impossible to find a 1st ed, 1st print UK edition copy of any of the first 4 books that havent been read through. We live and we learn though, but it definitely is painful thinking back on it.

Omg these look SO NICE. Thanks for showing. When hearing “HP TCG” i thought of some photos of actors or more realistic serious stuff. But this is pure gold with those early books illustrations!

I got bored and opened all my HP booster packs, including a Japanese Chamber of Secrets. It was a light pack. It’s fun opening WOTC packs without breaking the bank.

Sadly, the live action cards just dont do it for me.
Id kill for new harry potter cards that contain illustrations such as the ones done by Jim Kay for the illustrated books.

One of the cleanest copies of this card I’ve seen nice! Hope you get a decent grade. All of my copies are probably 6-7 grade

Although personally I’ve seen many Wingardium Leviosa promos over the years. Sealed copies are much rarer though.
There is also an Italian exclusive “Alohomora” promo, which origins are unknown. Here is one of my copies: cardboardcollector on Instagram: "Check out this super rare Italian Alohomora promo card.
