Hello all! I am going to be posting the additions to my collection as they come as well as showing some of what I have. I’ll begin by posting my favorite card in my collection!
Ronda Rousey signed Dragonair. Happy to have this one of a kind card! I sent her this card to sign way back in August of 2015 and got it back last month.
She was pretty much the Conor Mcgregor of Womens UFC. She was super popular and kicked ass for a year or two, until she lost a pretty big fight last year.
During her popularity she made in clear on social media she was a pretty big Pokemon fan, her favorite being Dragonair.
He sent the card during her most popular year most likely, which explains her taking so long to send it back… Surprised she did at all actually, super cool to see she has love for the fans.
That sounds pretty cool and I sure would be a thousand times more proud of a card signed by any idol I look up to than some random japanese pokemon voice actor.
This is hilarious. Love it. I’ve never seen a collectable that so perfectly represents the history of the cards from the perspective of their media reception. This is gold.
I have to disagree with the label of overrated. She was undefeated for five years in MMA and beat the top contenders in both Strikeforce and the UFC. She didn’t just beat them, not one of her fights ever went to a decision. She was the most exciting fighter on the planet for a period of time. What happened to her with the Holly and Nunes KOs happens to all champions. Up and coming fighters train specifically to beat that person for years. Throw in the fact that Ronda obviously wasn’t committed for the majority of her last three fights because of other obligations and that is why we are here.
Every fighter is going to run into a young up and comer and lose, it is the nature of the MMA game. It happened to Chuck Liddell, Renan Barao, Dominick Cruz, Ronda, and it will happen to Demetrious Johnson, Conor, Cody Garbrandt, etc…
That’s why she was so overrated imo. Maybe overrated is the wrong word but I’d definitely describe the Holms and Nunes fights as overhyped. She just hadn’t trained properly.
