Guardians Rising card price / collecting them all

Hello there! This is my first time on this forum and I am looking for some advice.

Sorry if this is not the right place to post these questions.

This last Christmas, I started playing PTCGO and got hooked. I went and bought a Guardians Rising booster box and an elite trainer box. I got lucky and pulled a Lele and a double colorless secret rare. I’ve been looking non stop on eBay to grab the cards I do not have. I have no prior experience collecting cards.

Since then, I bought a lot of singles to complete the set.

My question is : since it’s a fairly new set, should I wait some time before buying all the secret rares? They are kinda expensive right now but I did buy 2-3 that were a bit under market value.

I bought almost all the GX I was missing. Should I stop now and wait a bit?

Is it a dumb idea to want to that complete set right now?

You should definitely wait until the cards have rotated out of standard (now we have expanded though…) they will have a price down that can be 80% of a card’s value. Some examples that come to mind are the Shaymin ex from Roaring Skies that was selling for 90ish (full art) and now is around $15. the Double Colorless energy will probably stay around the same price since it is always in rotation.

Thanks! It helps but it also means that I wasted way too much money :stuck_out_tongue:. Should I try and sell some cards now and buy back after next rotation? In the long run, my plan is to collect a complete set with all the secret rares.

I roughly paid between 3-5$ per standard GX and a bit more per FA cards.

I should have started my collection with an older set but booster box are more expensive.

I would sell the Tapu Lele and maybe the energies. The energies will most likely get reprinted in another set so that will down the value. Rare Candy and max potion are used in some decks currently, but they are like double colorless and do not really leave. What cards are you missing? If I have any you are missing, you can have them for free

Thanks for the offer but I cannot accept it. I am missing some of the full arts and some secret rares. I am all set with every card from 1 to 131/145 and the cards I’m missing cost too much for now to be free.

I will continue to scan eBay for the next coule of months and see if the price on some of them will go down.
