Side note: Numberphile is a great channel, they do a lot of videos explaining mathematical phenomena and every day complexities that are easy to understand whilst not insulting your intelligence.

I had just watched this too! It’s a great channel.
I was hoping for a bit more math or less obvious strategies when it comes to ebay. Still neat to learn about all the different auction styles though

Interesting. I want eBay to add some live dutch auctions. That would be fun to see a PSA 10 1st edition charizard come up after a short dry spell with the bid starting at $50k and see where it ends. Now I need to find some studies to read up on the actual math behind expected values on auctions of each kind. I really love the psychology behind all of this.

I wish their was an option to not show how much time was left in the auction. That would get rid of last minute bidders and cause everyone to just bid because they have no idea when it’ll end.

You can technically do it yourself, it would just take a lot of advertisement to let people know what’s going on. Start a BIN listing with your start price and every day lower it by your increment till it sells.
