Since this is a pretty big trade I wanted to run it by the community first. A friend of mine is offering me his psa 5 first edition zard and his binder of moderately/lightly played cards of the original 151 (Venusaur is damaged and Slowbro is Dark Slowbro). Pictures are below. He wants 11k for both. I don’t have 11k laying around so I was going to sell my PSA 9 unlimited base set holo set and PSA 9 Shadowless Red Cheeks Pikachu, psa 9 shadowless Charmander and Charmelon, and PSA 6 Shadowless Zard and put that money towards the 1st Ed Zard and binder.
If the Zard wasn’t 1st Ed I wouldn’t sell my collection and think about this but this could be my only chance to get one of the grails of Pokemon and I’m a Charizard fan. Would you think it’s worth it to give up my collection for the Zard and binder?
What is there to think about? Your friend is offering you under market by 1000s + throwing in a binder of cards. If it’s your grail this should be a no brainer.
Do you collect Charizards? Or do you just think he’s neat?
Reason I’m asking is because it’s one of those things where if you’re getting it because of the opportunity but not necessarily because you desire it, you could end up regretting it later. If it’s been your collection goal (not a Pokemon community goal) then go for it, but if you’re doing it for the status and not for the goal then there’s a larger than small chance that you would regret it later.
This forum has a lot of threads about regretting stuff so I could encourage you to read those and see if any resonate.
I go a little back and forth. A 1st Ed Charizard is a card I never thought I would ever get (still a chance I don’t since I’ve been to a few stores already to sell my collection and the prices they are offering are a little underwhelming) and like I said I am a Charizard fan but I guess I feel a little bad since my collection is pretty cool as well. I think him putting the binder in the deal makes me think it’s worth it because if I was giving up all my cards for just one card I probably wouldn’t do it.
