Has anyone on here got cards from the goodwill auction site. I have been buying from there lately and they have some good cards. Obviously some are not good but you can get pretty lucky for not very expensive. My last order i got a no symbol holo victreebell.
I have a couple GW stores use me to consult and I do it cause I love the work they do in the community. For personal purposes it’s a waste though. Too much garbage, too much work.
A buddy of mine bought a charizard lot off of there and half of the cards were fakes.
Yea i wont really buy any new cards. Ive been really lucky not getting fakes. But they are out there. But when you get like 500 cards for 6 bucks you can really beat that.
Yes i buy the cards from them to help out there stores and my kids love playing with the cards. There a little young for them to be able to look at the real collection.
Yes, I was referring to our members who collect or resell. They’re great for your purpose and I’m sure your kids love them:)
I used to snag a couple auctions a week from goodwill when I was getting back into the hobby. Most of what I got was in such terrible conditions because their supply is largely parents donating their child’s collections. I did get lucky from time to time, but anything with value shown in the pictures went far above market value, and everything else was a gamble.
It’s like the King said, too much garbage, too much work.
I got shilled pretty hard on a couple video games and one got shipped with no protection so it came completely busted and had to be returned. I won’t be using Goodwill in the future for anything pricey lol

They shipped me a sealed N64 game in…a non bubble envelope and charged ridiculous shipping. Rare Gauntlet 64 w/figure too, it was slightly crushed (luckily I did get it for a steal). Then I won a sealed N64 Grape controller, I was again charged ridiculous shipping and they put it in a very large box (literally 10x the size of the controller blister) without a single piece of packing material as well, it unfortunately did not make it. Along with their shill bidding and great descriptions, its amazing people still purchase online from them.
Wow. I had no idea that goodwill had auctions. I was going around to individual stores not finding anything. This is a whole new playing field… ![]()

They actually started taking the better things from quite a few stores a while back top post on shopgoodwill.com. Not that you can’t find things in stores, but typically they have to price everything a certain amount and could generate much higher sales on the site. I think they even now have electronic stores called “The Grid”. Honestly you aren’t going to find many steals on shopgoodwill, you have to get very lucky with how they describe things and how insanely high people(and they) bid, wouldn’t waste your time.
I’ve only done one purchase there but felt “meh” about the experience.
One thing that I found horrendous is that some of the cards that weren’t pictured in the auction had stickers on the face of the cards themselves. ![]()
It’s fun how they sell bulk by the pound. I’m always looking for “vintage” bulk. They sell individual cards a little steep, but sometimes you can find a real good deal
About a year ago I was pretty regularly buying lots on goodwill and I ended up with some decent stuff. I got a couple of rares from e-sets that were in NM condition, but most of it was just bulk in rough condition.
However, one time I bought a binder from them that had mostly more bulk in it, but in the back of the binder there was one pocket with multiple cards in the same sleeve. When I pulled it out, I ended up pulling a Gold Star Mew which was pretty cool. It was in pretty good condition too. It’s currently at PSA. I’m expecting probably a 7 or 8 out of it.
