God Tier Double Swirls

Hi Community, to qualify as a “double swirl”, do the swirls have to be physically distinct or can they overlap, like this example here? Some amazing examples in this thread for sure. Thanks

This is a single swirl, but the artifact that you’re witnessing is due to lighting from multiple angles. I go into detail below. All double swirls are separated by some distance, as they are direct repetitions of a holo pattern.

Thank you for responding and educating me on this.

I am so pissed I missed out on this by $1. Two edge swirls horizontally placed. That’s two double swirl rocket’s trap I have found this week. Ebay notifications have been failing me lately.

I’m sure you already know, but this double swirl is just due to the regular spacing of the holo pattern and shouldn’t be too difficult to find, I think (i.e. any card with a cosmos holo and an artbox with at least that length should be able to have this double-half-swirl pattern). The top-bottom one with the weld line was really neat though!

Yes, I just haven’t seen it yet on this card, or at least in this thread. Just wanted to share my findings! This one was just lucky spacing, and whoever was bidding it up saw it too. But they weld lines are tricky and I’ll have to get a better photo when my CGC 10 arrives. @Dyl do you want to add that to the list as a partial?

All of the full and partial double swirls listed in the OP are for the “close” variety, as @bbobrob was suggesting. I don’t believe that I’ve seen a close double swirl on Team Rocket before.

I’m talking about my partial vertical, not the horizontal.

Thought i’d share some quad-swirls. If this isn’t the right thread to share them in, let me know.

First up is Lapras EX. I like how the “e” shaped swirls match the e-reader lettering.

Next is a Japanese Promo Entei. I think its technically a 6-swirl, with small partials in the bottom corners, but its a stretch to see.

Finally we have a quad-swirl holo-bleed CD Promo Venusaur. The swirls didn’t show on the PSA scan, but the listing mentioned bleed and i took a chance. I was not disappointed!

Thanks!

That holo bleed Venusaur is sweet!

I second the comment by @bbobrob . That Venusaur is just a beauty. That swirl looks like a energy ball travelling from Venusaur’s mouth. Great cards, thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

@Parallax great cards man, I also have a japanese Entei with four swirls but yours have a better position then mine. I will say that I have never seen a japanese vintage card with an overlapping weld line before therefore I believe it is not possible to have six swirls on it. Still amazing finds, congratz!

I have a contribution to the “close double swirls” list. Though it isn’t the closest of close examples, its there.
