Hey everyone, I was recently doing some shopping to add to my promo collection and I saw that Genesect Promom BW101 was about $60. Now the past several months I’ve been very busy working on lots of stuff and haven’t been able to monitor my promos as I usually would. I swear I got this card for cheap, under $8 kind of cheap some time ago. Was this card always so valuable or did it recently grow in price and if so why?

It was only available for a very short time in the “Genesect and the Legend Awakened” DVD sold in stores. As such it’s a pretty difficult promo to acquire. As long as I’ve known it’s been around $60-80. Maybe it was $8 around its release but that was several years ago.
Perhaps you are thinking of the Japanese promo version, or the promo that came with the Red Genesect Collection?
Yeah I’m aware it’s release was through DVD but wasn’t sure how limited. I guess I got a great deal and didn’t notice at the time as I only take note of promo cards I spend over X amount on and this wasn’t on the list. I do have the other Red Genesect Promo as well and know that’s a lot cheaper, it’s nice to know this one has sustained it’s value. Happy to know I got a great deal, I’ve had this happen only once before in my 5 Years of collecting Promos so it’s nice when it does 
Because there is a pretty stable supply of sealed copies, expect the lower end of the range on an opened copy. Additionally, condition is significant as this card only has value to collectors and tends to draw out the interest of collectors content spending more for condition. They go for as much as $100 on eBay given proper time and as little as $35 on facebook groups in sealed condition. Truly all over the place. I’ve sold about a dozen since they were released.
