Amazing, thanks for that, I’ll definitely do that!
Would it be worth selling the Southern Islands (although I believe that through research I’m missing post cards?) and the other set I have (I actually don’t know what set this is so any insight would be great) as a set, or separate them?
Appreciate the offer thanks bud, from what I’ve read if I get it graded at a decent grade it could be worth around 500-700 so I’ll probably pass
Big thanks to everyone for the help on that, condition on the majority seem to be decent enough that I’d send them off to be graded, I’m doing a bit more research now, are there any others you consider are worth grading due to value?
No worries. I imagine with the surface stains around the edge on the front you’re losing 1 point. The whitening on the edges will dock another point. Guaranteed there are holo scratches which would be at least 1 more point. Centering looks good, not sure about the corners.
I’d say conservatively it’s a 6 so you might get some more for it if you grade it and wait the 6 months.
I based my raw grade offer off this listing that went for $200:
As a side note, your non-fake Machamp is interesting in that it is the cosmos holofoil version from the 2-Player CD-ROM Starter Set. I don’t know how big of a premium there is attached to it right now (maybe ~30%?), but you should definitely mention it when selling.
Well, to make it short: prices stand and fall with condition. The cheaper ones were probably in worse condition than the more expensive ones. PSA 10s are rare and accordingly pretty valuable. Yours is pretty good I think. I’m not at all firm on the prices for this cards, but I guess you should have no problem getting 30-40 USD for it (with a bit of patience maybe more).
The difference is literally the condition and the fact that the owner sent it to PSA and PSA was also deemed it to be worthy of their highest grade, gem mint 10. And it’s not like the value increases linearily with the grade, a 10 can go for many many multiples of a 9 price for cards that are hard to grade as 10s.
I can’t blame you for finding that hard to believe, but for the most cards, condition is everything. There are cards that are <50$ in average condition (not even bad) and >10k$ as a PSA 10, just because the perfect condition is so hard to get on those (mostly due to production issues or distribution methods).
Condition is everything for 99% of the cards (= mass produced set cards that aren’t particularily rare).
So from what I’ve seen and read over the last 24 hours,I believe these 9 cards to be the ones worth sending away to be graded for the highest value, would anyone agree?
Chatted to a few grading places based in the UK and will need to send in the actual cards themselves but based on the photos I sent in they graded the cards between 7-9. Is it worth sending these off?
If so is it worth getting the whole southern islands collection graded together to sell them as a whole?
