Hello guys and we are down to the kanto showdown in the finale. Anorith (actually the greatest base form fossil IMO) has unfortunately settled for the bronze. Gen 1 pull is so strong it’s proved again. But anyway who among kabuto and omanyte takes the crown. Is it the helix or the dome.. Let’s see. Positions are:

Okay anorith should have won, but if I had to choose the best one now, it would be for the horseshoe crab
Since it’s the final, I’m gonna state my personal order again:
Tirtouga < Tyrunt < Amaura < Shieldon < Cranidos < Lileep < Archen < Kabuto < Anorith < Omanyte
So I’m honestly pretty happy with this top 3. 
All of them are great, though. I don’t dislike a single fossil Pokémon (well, except for Arctozolt and Arctovish tbh..)

I think neither belong in the top 3, so I’ll not vote today.
My ranking would be:
(1) Amaura, (2) Archen, (3) Tyrant, (4) Cranidos, Kabuto, Omanyte, (5) Lileep, (6) Tirtouga, (7) Shieldon, (8) Anorith
I feel equal about Cranidos, Kabuto and Omanyte. So ranking them a shared 4th spot.
Cannot believe the nostalgia for Omanyte 
Although you’re correct my love to Omanyte is partially due to nostalgia, FWIW though, it’s nostalgia for my time collecting fossils instead of the nostalgia for Omanyte itself. 
I’ve got a lot of ammonite fossils, and even found some myself once.
And tbf, Omanyte is also kinda cute and has a lot of amazing TCG cards, which also helped to bump it up to first place for me personally.

Something that has recently gone on with Kabuto has defined my opinion and i cant get over it.
My personal ranking is:
(1) Anorith (2) Archen (3) Omanyte (4) Tirtouga (5) Tyrunt (6) Lileep (7) Shieldon (8) Cranidos (9) Amaura (10) Kabuto
Honestly after the first 4 rankings of mine it was really hard to rank them, I like the rest of them fairly evenly!
There’s not much separating top two, so I picked Omanyte to take 2nd place because both it and its evolution are just cartoony ammonites, and that feels just a bit too uninspired next to the Kabuto → Kabutops evolution line.
My personal ranking of first stages would have probably gone:
Anorith > Tyrunt > Archen > Kabuto > Lileep > Cranidos > Omanyte > Tirtouga > Shieldon > Amaura
