First Ever E-Reader Battle Card Set 2 Booster Box Opening

Hey everyone, I recently came into a few boxes of the E-Reader Battle Card set an so I decided to open one of them. I wanted to understand what the pulls and stuff were like. Before making the video, I had only bought the cards to complete my sets and had never really done any research on them at all. So I was going in basically blind.

**If you only care about the packs, and not the other stuff that comes inside the packs, then skip straight to the 16:40 mark.**

I got a bit sidetracked reading something that came inside the pack and didn’t think about editing in a section where I already understood the material. So it is a bit dragging.

I know my editing is remedial and the subtitles are pretty miserably color coded. I couldn’t fiddle forever because my computer is terrible at video editing and the program kept crashing.

Also, please bear with the stretches of reading Japanese where you won’t understand what is being said… I promise explanations will come in the video, just be patient. While filming it I thought “Well, it’s better to have Japanese than silence.” :stuck_out_tongue:

In the end, I did learn a lot though about the video making process, and will try to implement things better in the next video, if I make one. I may reupload the video with the middle section of me reading the pamphlet cut to an edit of me having already understood the translations and explaining things better. For now, I kind of like the terrible quality of this and keeping the record of my first trash video. Thanks for bearing with this if you did.

Note: I mentioned that I was going to post a video from my channel to Fourthstar forever ago, and got this approved.

Very cool video thank you for sharing! Amazing I did not realize you can complete the set with one of each pack!

Great video! I had no idea about these cards, they seem like a fun addition to the games.

It’s interesting to see a video about Battle-e box. It’s rare to find videos about this cards and I’m grateful that you decided to share it.
In all this time I’ve been collecting cards, I only managed to get the 4 Battle-e Promotional cards (JP) that came with e-Reader+
I’ve been using the e-Reader for a lot of time … For a better experience, if you want to try this cards, you should get an e-Reader (Japanese are not compatible with American cards and viceversa). The transfer method is explained in the booklet included in the box.

@shizzlemetimbers,@pokemick,@expedition, Thanks so much for the kind words and for sticking through the video! I’m happy that it has been of some use for enlightening the community about these cards.

@dromanyte, Yeah, I am having a hard time collecting the Promo cards as well for the set. I’ve of course got the four easy ones, and recently came across the one with Gardevoir, I believe 006/P, but it’s sadly pretty damaged. The others I don’t have much info on. I really want the Regi Doll one, but that is quite pricey at like $300-400+.

Hey, awesome to see a Pokémon Battle e: Series 2 (Japanese: 第2弾 ポケモンバトルカードe+ Second Shot: Pokémon Battle Card e+) Box opened on Youtube! Great to know Akihabara still holds these gems. Were all the boxes you picked up from Series 2 or did you get some from Series 1 as well? Both have the same 48 Trainer + 6 Berry Card distribution but they contain 54 unique cards for a grand total of 108 cards. Although you do mention you already have Series 1 in your binder, so I assume you didn’t pick up any Series 1 boxes. As for the 19 promos, like the 08-P006 with Lv. 100 Gardevoir or 08-O001 being the one with the Regi Dolls, those are indeed hell to find.

At 17:39 you open up ミニスカートのヨウコ Miniskirt Yōko. This would be Lass Yōko in the English game counterpart.

Also worth noting (source Bulbapedia) is the meaning of the icons:

The tower symbol indicates that this Trainer may also appear in Battle Tower after the card has been scanned.

The star symbol indicates that this Trainer has a rare Pokémon in their party, or one that is not in the Hoenn Pokédex.

The crown symbol indicates that this Trainer has Pokémon that are all at Lv. 100.

Congratulations on your acquisition and thank you for documenting this rare unboxing and sharing it with all of us.

@melchior, Awesome information! Thanks so much! I am thinking about reuploading the video with that whole middle section updated to be a little less messy as a historical archive of the box. Whenever I get to it, I’ll include the information you put here. I had not gone back yet to read the pamphlet describing those symbols but it’s great to know what they mean.

And regarding which boxes I got, it is only series 2. I’m not sure what else the store has but as of yet they have not brought anything else out. I’m praying they’ve got some of the fire red leaf green stuff! That would be even more heaven than I’m already in!

I’m reading up on the promos, and it seems like there is hardly any info on them. The bulbapedia has what the names are and the events they were at, but there are no pictures. Not even of the gardy one that I have. Are they really that rare, or is it just that no one has uploaded pics of them? Looks like most of the promos came from exchanging nintendo points. But 5+7 should still be obtainable fairly “easily” I feel. At least relative to the other stuff.

Well, the 19 promos for the Ruby and Sapphire Battle Card e+ can be further subdivided into 4 categories and some are definitely a lot rarer than others. Using the following keywords and Card set numbers you will be able to find pictures for all of them rather easily!

  • Berry Glitch Repair Program (きのみ問題修理プログラム) - 2 Cards

      16-A001 & 16-A002

  • Let’s hold a secret! (ひみつきちをかざろう!) - 1 Card

      08-O001

  • Promo Cards (プロモカード) - 8 Cards

08-P001 up to and including 08-P008

  • Club Nintendo Cards (クラブニンテンドーカード) - 8 Cards

08-N001 up to and including 08-N008

@pigeonsyndicate , In my area, it’s really difficult to find Battle-e promo cards (even the 4 first promos).
In all this time I’ve been collecting cards, I managed to see them only once (and are the ones that are part of my collection).

About 006/P, is it damaged in the part of Dot Codes??? (if it’s damaged in the Dot Code area, the card is technically useless). You should try scanning it using a japanese e-Reader. (If it throw “READ ERROR”, it means that the card is unreadable. If the app starts normally, it’s still useful)

About the others, I’m currently making a research of e-Cards. In fact, your video is really, really useful because it’ll help me to describe the components of the box and booster packs.

About Regi Dolls … yes, they’re really expensive. It’s rare to find. It’s a cool card!!!
