Fake pokemon pocket cards - what are the implications?

So I suppose this was kind of inevitable. However considering there is no real physical cards, its not like they can be used to fool people into thinking they are are fakes of real cards. So far pokemon company hasn’t crossed over these arts into real cards.

I’ll leave this open ended. I’m not really sure what to think about this all. I’m one of those people who are frustrated with what pokemon pocket is and the whole PTCGO->PTCGL thing. But it just doesn’t seem okay to me. All I can think about is some parents buying this for a kid, and then when they grow up find out its not an official pokemon product and the friction that will cause.

In all of TCG Pocket’s success, the main takeaway I think is TPC has the manpower to keep the chase experience in both digital and physical tcg unique

And yes custom cards are inevitable, but as these sellers gain exposure they also gain the attention and hammer of TPC

innocent whistling.

I purchased fakes of all the Gengar cards. I like the art and want to see it with my real cards. If they aren’t willing to make real ones, I’ll continue to purchase any Gengars. If they come out with real ones, I will purchase real ones.

I’m sort of on the opposite side here. They’re cards that:

  • aren’t physically produced by TPC
  • are usually being printed at seller’s expense
  • take a good amount of effort to replicate, if done correctly
  • in most cases are listed as custom or fake

If the powers that be don’t want to make physical versions of these cards, despite the obvious demand, then well-intentioned sellers looking to give people what they want aren’t the bad guy. Unfortunately, parents not reading the listing is kinda their problem.
