Fake Mysterious Pearl trophy shield?

hello, so im intrested in purchasing my first trophy which is in quite a nice affordable price for me. it is a mysterious pearl. however the card and PSA case look genuine but for the shield when i took a photo and put on google to translate from japanese it would say “replica shield”

Well @HumanForScale can help clarify because they make the Vhett shields. But, yes, it is a replica shield for displaying the card. The original one usually has the placement number on the shield (1st, 2nd or 3rd). So the card is probably genuine and is being displayed in a shield, which looks very similar to the original one, hence replica.

Cheers!

thank you for the information. the card looks legit as well as the slab with all the signs for genuine psa slab. he claims the original shields are extremly rare so ill have to work with that

@droripory A majority of Mysterious Pearls (like 99% of them) were given away at the Winter Challenge 2007 events . These ones were not distributed with shields as they weren’t given to top-placing players.

The ones with the shield were given to top finishers at Battle Road 2007 Spring. They have the name, tournament venue, and placing of the winner on the nameplate:

.

Only 81 copies were distributed like this, meaning there are only 81 “real” shields for Mysterious Pearl.

We made Vhett shields so that collectors could display their cards in a similar way to the original trophies even if the card was graded. To make sure that they weren’t passed off as the originals we included the “replica” text on the nameplate for this very reason, so I’m glad it worked

They’re also UV-resistant to protect the card from sun-fading which can happen with the original shields.

dont get me wrong it is beautiful i just didnt read japanese and i didnt know what the text says on the real shield and then i translated this one. i guess it is a bit of a bummer that it isn’t the original shield but its great display and the graded card itself IS genuine and that is what’s important. thank you for the information

I was also suprised when I saw it on eBay like 2 weeks ago for that price, assumed that it was a Vhett shield, messaged the seller and he confirmed it

well its also not psa 9-10 its psa 6. but affordable for me and TBH the card is the most that is important so ill still go through the deal.

I know a guy from this forum who is currently asking 3k€ obo for a PSA 9, @enkaycards
Just in case it can help you

thanks mate but that would be too much for me at this time unfourtently.

luckily my attitude towards rarer or more expensive cards is that i dont mind to go down in the grade for example i would take a trophy kanga in a psa 1 XD

For anyone else who may come upon this thread later,

Our website has a page detailing the differences between our designs and originals

Original cases never have been compatible with slabs, so anytime a slab is displayed assume it is one of our frames.

There are other physical differences between original frames and ours including the thickness, hole size and screw construction but the article only details the visual differences.

If you have any questions or need any help please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or Human4Scale

Funny enough, the shield is more expensive than the card itself. For some reason it’s much rarer than other trophy shields. Pearl with the original has sold for $10k+ regarless of condition.

haha whats up malik. hope you doing well. if i had given a chance to decide what i want shield or card (graded) only, i would take the card so for me that deal with the replica is ok
