Got some time on your hands? Avoiding work on the clock? You might as well spend an hour or so doing this tier list, which includes every single Shiny Pokemon from generations 1-9.
Here is mine.
An explanation of tiers
S - The cream of the crop! Awesome shinies that are cohesive or survived the transition to 3D with grace. I’ve either hunted for these before, or may hunt for them in the future. Either way, they are very cool!
Best: Eevee, Arrokuda
Worst: Smeargle, Swadloon
A - Still amazing shinies, and I’d ecstatic to encounter these in-game. All have survived the transition to 3D or have subtle hue shifts that are pretty cool to me.
Best: Mienfoo, Decidueye
Worst: Lumineon, Nymble
B - Great shinies that I would be very happy to encounter in-game. Some of these have kind of stumbled in the transition to 3D, but they’re still pretty good. I see the vision.
Best: Sneasler, Clodsire
Worst: Beheeyem, Arbolivia
C - Some weird colors popping out here. Some of these Pokemon looked very good as shinies in their debut generation (Cyndaquil line, Treecko line) and were ‘nerfed,’ did not survive the transition to 3D very well, or are just plain not appealing.
Best: Quagsire, Shaymin [Regular Form]
Worst: Mismagius, Naganadel
D - Pretty bad. Mostly bizarre hue shifts that don’t add anything, or just adding a piss-like yellow on certain parts of the Pokemon. Some of these, like Vespiquen and Grotle, were absolutely failed at their transition to 3D.
Best: Purugly, Karrablast
Worst: Terrakion, Primarina
Overrated - Highly lauded shinies that don’t really deserve above B tier. Some of them were cool in 2D but are not very good in 3D. Chansey is there because of its notoriety among Gen 3 shiny hunters.
Best: Giratina, Gallade-Mega
Worst: Yveltal, Kommo-o
Why - Just bad. Bad color choices, non-redeemable hue shifts, and just ugly overall.
Best: Alolan Diglet, Xerneas
Worst: Munna, Bruxish
And the worst shiny of all time goes to…
Mustard, ketchup, and lettuce fish!!
