Epson V600 Red Line/Troubleshooting

I just bought a new Epson V600 and, while I’ve been able to get some good results, I keep getting this red line close to the middle of the image when I scan with the lid open, as well as some other lines (is this what they call banding?). It’s not an issue if I stick to the other side, but obviously not ideal.

At first I thought it might be a reflection from the belt(?), but the best I’ve been able to find online is that it’s dust on the calibration area; I’ve wiped the surface, however there are some big specs on the underside of the glass that I’d need to open to clean.

I’ve measured the largest spec, and that is more or less where the line appears, but is this likely to be the cause? Or is this normal and I need to put up with it? And is the lid supposed to be awkward to close?

TIA xox

Ok! I emailed the shop I bought it from and they literally got back to me in minutes, but advised me to speak to Epson. I explained the dust under the glass and they arranged for a courier to deliver a replacement/pick up the one I had, all I had to do was email them proof of purchase and pack it up to be collected, which it was earlier today. The new scanner works fine, so I guess it was just a one-off.

Tl;dr: No fix to the above hardware problem, but very impressed with customer service! Scanner is gud

I read that as ‘Espeon’ and was like what? Glad to see they’re helping to fix the scanner though

There is also a thread here on E4 with lots of troubleshooting and tips for this scanner model definitely worth a read if you haven’t checked it out yet!

@tronedor huh, I don’t think I found that one (just ones where people were asking about different settings/CIS vs CCD?) No worries anyway, problem has been solved
