how’re we feeling about the chase cards from this set overall?
for me, there are some strong highlights like the wailord AR and mence SAR. a couple other ARs are pretty decent like the wooloo which is very nice and the volcanion which looks like it might be super epic.
as for the owner’s pokemon SARs, they seem ok. it feels like a balance between the dream league and VMC style character arts and the SV era supporter SARs where now the character is equally as focused on as the pokemon. not my favorite, but at least the art is nice on them if you’re into that choice

A solid upgrade from 2023/2024’s maximum offering of 4 SAR Pokémon ex / 2 SAR Supporters in main expansions. Hybridisation of the Owner’s Pokémon mechanic gives more of both worlds, so to me it feels like 6 SAR Pokémon and 4 SAR Supporters in 6 cards - and without Tera/Stellar currently

I was expecting better. For something to be promoted at Worlds, I anticipated more Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge and we got a shade of it. It’s more of a flash in the pan and while the owners Pokémon SAR are cool, it just doesn’t do it for me.
It definitely feels like Dream League 2.0 but a little better.

what does this look like for you? i don’t see any difference between this and gym sets aside from where the picture of the trainer’s head is on the card

I mean, i can at least acknowledge theyre trying to shake up the full art designs a bit. Is it better than the standard? Idk they look kinda off to me lol
My biggest takeaway from this is that the salamence looks awesome. Best card revealed so far for me

I’m liking it more and more, although they ruined furret (imo) and the 4 main set trainers don’t have their own full art supporter cards (I was hoping for this so there would be another option for a Misty full art for my gym leader page)
There are still about 4 AR cards I’d like to get, and I even love the SR mamoswine and dudunsparce. I think the trainer profiles on the other SR cards are well done.
Looking forward to SV9a for Ethan and Misty
