According to Nintendo Dream magazine, Hop was the 3rd most popular character of Sword & Shield in Japan, even above Marnie. Whatever the consensus, this set is strongly catered to Japanese fans, and the EN-collecting base for Journey Together will likely be confused by this lol

My Charlie Day speculation for this set and future sets:
- Battle Partner is more like a Scarlet & Violet take on Sun & Moon’s Dream League set than Gym Heroes/Challenge
- N and Lillie are also in Dream League
- They replaced Gym Leader Erika with Gym Leader Iono
- They replaced rival Gladion with rival Hop
- Not every card in the set is Owner’s Pokémon or related to the 4 main characters
- AR Iono’s Wattrel promo comes sealed with a code card for the app Pokémon Masters EX
- Dream League was released in the same month as Pokémon Masters EX (August 2019), both introducing characters with their partner Pokémon
- TPC probably used the Owner’s Pokémon mechanic to maintain AR/SAR rarity in sets instead of bringing back CHR/CSR
- 4 “main characters” per set will be this year’s trend, at least until SV11B Black Bolt and SV11W White Flare
- SV9a Heat Wave Arena should have:
- Arven’s Pokémon (English set trailer cameo)
- Ethan’s Pokémon (English set trailer cameo)
- Misty’s Pokémon (English set trailer cameo)
- Cynthia’s Pokémon (Cynthia’s Garchomp ex was mentioned, potential set mascot)
