I was a big community member in my former profession, and it was a true B*(&^ trying to have serious discussions with all the salty ignorance, such that the public community drifted away from it. (And that community is literally one hundred + years old.) Kinda sad really. So, Scott, when I say we are blessed and truly lucky to have had you in this community, and that this community has brought other people that step up to lead when needed, we truly are perhaps the luckiest public hobby community in the world. Respect!

You learn to appreciate e4 even more when you go to trade nights, flea markets, conventions, etc. It can be like Reddit/IG, but in real life.

Dont know what trade nights and conventions you’ve been going to but the ones I’ve been to have just been people passionate about pokemon sharing their love for the hobby together.

yup and I go to the flea market every week and its a blast
if you’re getting all your pokemon from just ebay, youre doing it wrong
People around here mostly come from the WhatNot, IG, and r/PokeInvesting crowd. They’re more passionate about making money and flexing their (perceived) wealth than about the cards.
Don’t get me wrong, there are obviously passionate collectors too. But the voices of the pokestonkers in my area are loud and don’t leave much space for the introverted/nerdy crowd that I used to see every other week.
I’m trying my best to find that crowd again.
