Ok. So I am really irritated with ebay right. My listing was removed for trademark violation. What was I listing? A simple generic plush monkey with velcro hands. The feet have velcro too. The photo is mine. Guess who had the listing removed. Velcro Industries… um ok the monkey has velcro on its hands probably made by velcro company. What else can you call velcro? Is all velcro made by Velcro? I am totally serious, totally irtitated. And not sure if as ebay has suggested, I should contact Velcro to see why they did this. Any thoughts appreciated.
“hook and loop fasteners.” seems to be the goto term.
Pity Nintendo wasnt as protective of its brand in getting ebay to remove counterfeit copies of pokemon cards.
Its not eBay, its just that the Velcro patent owning company is more aggressive i suppose…
Yes like mentioned above, velcro is the brand. It’s like chapstick-lip chap or kleenex-tissue paper. Brands that many people will say referring to the product itself no matter what brand it is.
But either way seems crazy it was removed. Going after people hard.
Currently there’s 80,000 listings that have “Velcro” in the title. There’s also a thousand toys and games with Velcro in the title. I doubt that’s why eBay closed it?
Sometimes companies have like an automated report system, there are a lot of big name companies that will request eBay to have your listing taken down if you are selling something of “theirs.” (Not the instance in this case.)
Or if you are selling something that is using their brand/name but is not actually that brand. Most times for this is counterfeiting.
Yes, I don’t know how they picked my listing. Plus there is a chance the plush does have velcro brand velcro on it. I mean its silly because velcro has become the household name like super glue or something.
It was most likely another user who reported you, they tend to do shady stuff like that when you beat their prices…eBay is full of people like this.
