Yes, I would say so. If the Buyer is honest and receives the card in that time, you might be in luck.
Only ship with tracking but offer combined shipping. This might even entice people to buy more cards, to “save” money.
Concerning the Canadian Post: what kind of Hell are you living in? I checked various shipping methods on canadapost.ca and I know that Canada is big and all, but that’s just not right.
Sadly more and more buyers are starting to learn if the seller doesn’t provide a tracking number they automatically get a free card. It is really sad, these people are thieves. I will never sell something that I can’t send with tracking. There are many other ways to steal on eBay but I will not get into that. eBay is not what it use to be and it protects the buyer far more than it protects the seller.
So this guy has basically refused to communicate with me. The first message he sent was asking for a refund if it didn’t arrive the next day. I message him back and apologise that he hasn’t received it and to message me if he still doesn’t receive it the next day. He never replied to that and just went straight to opening a case and saying the following
Google translate: “Still not resus litem jveux repon you are not reliable You the only one who has my problem while I’m on ebay jva talk about it to ebay for whom face of what because not normal jattent a message is your part for that jpuice gives you my bank tale for you to transfer my money if yarais u a traking I would have known or the courier would be made my not made and my pasience has limit thank you jate that you contact me for sarrenge”
I can’t make out everything he said exactly, but I get the gist of it (I think). I replied apologising again and politely ask that he consider Easter holiday and mention that ebay’s ETA isn’t always accurate. This was all on Friday and I haven’t from him since. I messaged him a few hours ago (through the opened case) simply asking if he got the card yet, prepared to refund him if he said no, but he still hasn’t replied. For all I know he received the card and just hasn’t bothered to let me know yet.
What do I do if he doesn’t reply by midnight? This is the last day before he can escalate the case. If he doesn’t reply and escalates, do I have a valid reason to fight any “strike”/negative feedback (no communication) or whatever my account gets for reaching an escalated case, or would it be in my best interested to refund him whether he replies or not?
I feel like since you left the ball in his court, and so many days have passed, you should let it play out. Won’t Ebay also close the case if it doesn’t get escalated quickly by the buyer once it’s available for escalation? If he responds last minute saying he still didn’t get the card then I would just refund him like you planned. If the silence holds, then I’d hold onto the money.
Always include the cost of tracking in your sales. Nontracked packages are completely unprotected. Poor crackheads can just get your card, fip it, and ask for refunds all day long.
All of my listings require tracking now, and I figured out how to offer buyers automatic combined shipping when they go to checkout. I thought I’d start with singles untracked to see how it went, but I’m basically just gonna bundle everything until it’s worth at least $50 now to make the cost for tracking more attractive. That card would not have sold if I added a $13 shipping fee for tracking lol. It wasn’t a unique card and there were other listings offering the same thing at the same price.
This is one of the biggest problems I’ve had to deal with selling from Canada. I have tried added tracking to every listing and making the buyer pay at least $8, but this causes items to sit and never sell. I started just shipping non-tracked for anything under $25 and anything over I charge full tracking. In my experience, I’d say about 90% of the time the buyers are honest and when they receive the item, they don’t try and ask for a refund when they know there was no tracking. In this case, the buyer seems very unreasonable and impossible to deal with so I would just refund him, block him, take the loss and move on.
I also noticed anytime there is a holiday in Canada, packages tend to just go missing. Last Christmas I refunded about $250 worth of singles because packages were getting lost. Sometimes it was people who had bought from me before and were actually apologizing to me because they felt bad that I was going to have to refund because their cards had not arrived. In those cases, I knew it was just Canada Post losing my packages. So it could be very well that the post office just lost your package as well.
I wouldn’t let this discourage you from selling on Ebay though. There are always going to be bad apples, but this is just a part of business. Just keep at it and keep selling and you will make more than you end up losing in the long run.
I would also recommend sending everything in a small bubble envelope when shipping singles non-tracked. I noticed PWE got lost much more often for me for some reason than when I shipped it in a bubble mailer and you can ship singles for the same $1 price.
Also there is a new shipping company popping up all over Canada that actually allows you to ship USPS to USA which is about $4 tracking. They do Canadian shipping starting at $10 and international around $7-$8 all tracked. They’re called Chit Chat Express and I would definitely recommend using them if you have on nearby. They have saved me probably thousands of dollars over the past few years by using them instead of Canada Post.
Good luck with your situation and if you have more questions about shipping from Canada just let me know!
I’m not sure. I’ve had it for about as long as I can remember (about 7 years old). Of course I didn’t know what it was for the longest time and everyone just figured it was shyness, but I was eventually diagnosed.
Sorry for bumping this, but I’m a bit confused about something. Yesterday was supposedly the last day of the case, but it’s still open. I decided to check my paypal and the held funds were gone. There wasn’t anything about the funds in the normal activity feed, so I downloaded a statement that shows this gyazo.com/bc1e5ebbef14e006c9030d931d4be8e5 It looks like the money was returned to me, but I’m confused about the “denied” status. Does that just mean the buyer was denied? I don’t check my paypal too often and by the time I checked I had already bought some things after the date in the picture, so I’m not sure if I actually got the money back lol.
Also, why would paypal not wait for the ebay case to close? I assumed that was when the money would be unlocked assuming the buyer never responded, which he hasn’t, but they apparently unlocked it more than 2 weeks ago.
