I also in the group of “I’d like to, but I’ll have to see how much time I have.” If you don’t mind, I’ll tentatively put myself as participating for now though :slightly_smiling_face: Very cool idea!

-2 days until the event begins!

If you know any artists or participants from the art contests who might not have seen this yet, make sure to tag them!
This Sunday at 1:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM CET I’ll announce the start of the event.
I’ll present the set, explain how everything will work, and most importantly reveal the list of Pokémon you’ll be able to choose from to draw.

Remember: first come, first served!

For planning and time evaluation. Do you have to do the whole evolution line? Can you just pick one stage of the line?

Yes, to avoid restricting participants too much, they can simply choose one stage to draw

I’m very happy to present to you the first official e4 set

SET LORE

Hidden beyond dense fog and violent ocean currents lies Verdant Tides Island, a mysterious paradise lost to time. A brilliant emerald land surrounded by endless blue seas, the island is a living sanctuary where lush forests and shimmering waters exist in perfect harmony.
Long ago, Verdant Tides was home to a remarkable civilization known as the Aethel. Deeply connected to both land and sea, the Aethel built their society around balance, sustainability, and respect for nature. They believed the island was protected by two mythical guardians: Celebi, spirit of the forest and keeper of time, and Manaphy, the prince of the ocean’s depths.
At the heart of the island stood a magnificent temple, a sacred place where the Aethel honored the bond between nature and Pokémon.

But this harmony would not last forever.

A mysterious event shattered the balance of Verdant Tides. The Aethel vanished without a trace, leaving behind only ancient ruins swallowed by vines and tides. Legends whisper that an unknown force once tried to harness the island’s mysterious energy, breaking the sacred connection between Celebi and Manaphy.

For centuries, Verdant Tides remained hidden from the world.
Now, the island has been rediscovered… and with its awakening, ancient powers are beginning to stir once again.

VERDANT TIDES AMBIENTATIONS (used AI for the map just as a tool for context)

STORMBREAK CLIFFS

On the northwestern edge of the island stand the towering Stormbreak Cliffs. These massive rock formations face the open ocean, where powerful winds constantly crash against the cliffs. The harsh environment makes it difficult for most Pokémon to survive there, but powerful flying and ancient species have adapted to the conditions.

CARD LAYOUT

I’ll be using existing cards, so we won’t be creating entirely new ones. The layouts will serve only as frames, purely for aesthetic purposes.

PROCEDURE:

All participants will have one month to submit their artwork to me. Which will have to be drawn in a 4500x3000 px or 6000x4000 px. will handle the layout of all the cards. This is to avoid spoilers and to ensure that all the cards are released together in the virtual gallery.
I’ve decided to remove the limit on the number of submissions. Initially, participants can reserve up to three Pokémon from the list. After two weeks, any Pokémon that haven’t been chosen can be picked by any participant.

REWARDS:

Participants will also receive a badge and a title on the forum for taking part. Additionally, I will create a poster featuring all the cards, which anyone can print if they wish.

The event is scheduled to end on April 30th!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who takes part. I’m sure this project will be amazing.
Good luck and lots of inspiration to all.

CHOOSE YOUR POKEMON

:double_exclamation_mark:The polls aren’t working very well, so before starting a drawing please make sure your Pokémon hasn’t already been chosen. To be safe, confirm your choice first by replying with the Pokémon you want to draw. Thanks!

:double_exclamation_mark:AI isn’t allowed for the artworks. Each drawing must be made entirely by the participant. Any medium is welcome!

What no Hawlucha! Please can we add it? It lives in this fantastic legend

fyi some of the polls allow multiple choices and some don’t!! is that intentional? specifically the last one

Thank you! You won’t regret it

I’ve added it, but after this, no more Pokémon will be added. The list has already been planned and finalized. Please choose only from the Pokémon already included in the poll. Thank you all!

No, I messed something up and now I don’t know how to set up multiple selections lol. I’ll ask a moderator.

NGL I’ve been brooding on a similar idea in the pocket. I’ve wanted to try out something artistically I’ve had on my mind for a while.

Thanks for trying to pull it all together.

One thing I’ll note is that whatever theme you go for, you have to absolutely make sure everyone is following similar motifs. So even if we go for a “city” or “island” theme, if there is a disjointed use of plants, or random landscape, then it won’t come together, and that might be hard to coordinate; if that even matters to anyone. It might not to be totally fair

Should be fun whatever the case.

You’re absolutely right, i probably should have been a bit more detailed in describing the landscape, mentioning specific things like plants and other features. My main thought was that a map representation to give a general idea, along with a description of the different areas, would be enough.
That said, I also didn’t want to give participants too many restrictions, since after all this is a fun project, and that’s the main goal. Considering this is the first attempt, future sets can definitely be more refined and precise. For now, let’s focus on this one and do our best! :handshake:

should be a good time. I think it will work out I missed the second part later down, so you provided exactly enough detail and a map to boot so that people have a visual to work from. woohoo!

@lghzcollect you might want to mention the recommended size to fit on a standard card. I believe @brendantheclayboy uses 16x9 for the art contest cards.
