E4 Secret Santa 2024 [PICTURE THREAD]

On the 28th of January I posted that I sadly did not receive my Secret Santa package. In my very 2000s mind-set of selling and trading cards online my reaction was “oh bummer, better luck next time” and took ‘the loss’ fully being ready to participate again in the 2025 edition.

My last communication with @fourthstartcg was that he would look into what the possibilities were… until a week ago when a received a message from him with good news.

I already communicated with my amazing replacement Secret Santa @lyleberr because I was so stunned with emotions I could not not write to him directly right after opening.

After paying an import charge and not really reading the package details (already happy and excited something was coming), I was surprised to see a 40cm x 40cm x 40cm box in front of the door and the delivery driver asking to sign for delivery. It made sense now that Fourthstar said ‘its probably because of dimensions’. I cut it open to see how full the box was because it really felt it weight only a few kilograms.

A few hours later I decided to unbox it, and I got the full Christmas Day (or for us Dutch; Pakjesavond) experience. It been 20 minutes of soundless yells, cheers, loud OMGs and NOWAYS. I felt I was 10 years old again!

It felt like it was a bottomless box! But after shaking out all the package peanuts, bubble wrap and other protective material the stack was there.

Great wrapped packages, a heavy document envelope (that I only know from watching CSI and stuff) with instructions, a traditional Hallmark Christmas Card. And two smaller packages, which I in all excitement ripped apart before making a photo of it

No sets with Bulbasaur in it (they are rare anyway) but such a nostalgia trip! Steam Siege is the first set I opened up again when getting back into Pokémon. I attended every Sun&Moon Pre-Release and even did some League activity playing that period.

The four single cards all slot right into my binder filling up (some) empty spots!

I still had two big packages left. One rattled a bit and I thought “oh maybe it’s one of those Ravensburger Pokémon puzzles!” oh boy, wrong I was. I never seen this set in stores here! Really got to find the time some day to build it (and with Lego getting the Pokémon license recently I feel there is a lot of building ahead).

The final box contained something I would have never bought myself (as Lyle said to me in DM already; it fills up the shelf right away) because of its size:

The FunkoPOP Jumbo-Size Silver Bulbasaur!

And since I followed up the instructions @lyleberr gave me. I opened the last thing last. A thick envelope with a photo-frame on the back. As mentioned in the card it was the mandatory sketch. Oh boy. This man delivered. I am now the owner of a Pokémon Snap Bulbasaur!

I cannot express my gratitude enough. To all the work @fourthstartcg put into the whole Secret Santa each year, doing his absolute best to track down my original Santa and @lyleberr being an absolute legend for covering this.

This was really a flashback to the childhood way of opening gifts.
