But, does the perspective make sense?!

 hopefully @stagecoach doesnt flame me for this art

I would never besmirch an artist. Every artist in the entire world is better than me. I would have to be a fool to criticize what I cannot create.

These are seriously so cool, I’d love to see how you even do this so I could try it for myself (not that it would turn out great )

It’s pure chaos lol. I don’t really do process video content because I don’t really have a clear “flow”…my work area is just pure random carnage during a project.

The basic premise is printing the artwork larger than the card, making that a 3D piece by layering up and shaping individual parts, attaching it to the stack of cards, and then going crazy with the broken bits and trying to make the destruction look as natural and random as possible.

The main problem is acquiring the art in uncropped form. For example, the Lucario artwork is usually cut off midway up the ears and at the hair/dreadlock (?) bits. So I had to find the cleanest copy I could on Google and extend the art by hand and using photoshop. And then up the resolution with a site I use for that. And all of that had to be done before I could even print or cut a thing.

Same thing with the Greninja although in that case, the raw art didn’t exist so I had to use a scan of the actual card, erase everything other than Greninja itself, extend the art/fill in the missing pieces, and up the resolution before I could even work with it.

Yugioh arts tend to be more readily available or have already been extended by other people. Pokemon seems to gatekeep and protect full, uncropped arts (if they even exist at all) so those are a lot harder to deal with, even though the actual art is far less detailed, and thus easier to work with, than the average Yugioh artwork.

This is the most impressive part. You wouldnt happen to be a toptier manga redrawer with skills like this right?

Haha, no, I’m no manga redrawer. It wasn’t anything too advanced I don’t think. I pencilled and inked the extensions by hand then scanned in and extended the existing colours using various photoshop tools.
