There are some important honorable mentions:
Submissions so close in score that they deserve to be recognized. Original category especially, as is usually the case — one even being decided by one single vote, amid nearly 100 ballots!

And for a final highlight – Judge’s Pick this year was incredibly tough and required multiple days of deliberation and debate. There were multiple pieces that we considered as the most “exemplified” of their category that could be considered a card art. Eventually we narrowed it down to two: One for Recreation – the other for Original.
Least to say it was not an easy choice, but after going over the details of each piece and judging them based on their category, we narrowly made the choice.
Without further ado, we wish to congratulate this year’s choice for Judge’s Pick:
Congratulations to oxidelake!
Oxidelake’s piece was chosen based on the incredibly thematic choice. A picturesque scene depicting the very Pokedex entries of a Phantump – highlighted with the accent of leaves and mushrooms scattered on the forest floor. The originality of the design is perfectly fit for a Full Art card and showcases a wonderful attention to detail and subtlety that made us feel a part of the grove it was set in. What ultimately won us over and convinced us of our choices was the lighting detail showing that there is a canopy of trees above the Ghost Pokemon despite the canopy being hidden from view – detailing like that deserves its own reward and beautifully fit its melancholic theme. It is so awe-inspiring and satisfying to not be shown something but yet so effectively be conveyed the atmosphere and setting, as well as hit all the thematic beats and have the overall piece feel so strong conceptually and emotionally. It is because of these details and more that we thought that Oxidelake’s submission was the defining feature of the “Original” category – though there were a few contenders for that list as well!
With that being said, Oxidelake is now invited to create the #1 Trophy Card art for next year’s digital prize card. It was a tough choice and we are still lamenting not being able to provide multiple Judge’s Pick options this year. You all did such a fantastic job and we hope to see all of you participate next year.
Please give us a some time to award prizes– we would like to award trophies all at once rather than stagger them. As is tradition, we now invite everyone to sing praise to their favorite pieces and of course for the artists to show their creative process if desired!
All the best everyone! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
