Doob's Scyther Collection

Day :two::one:

This post is coming a bit late, but the #sm30aPocalypse hit us hard earlier. If this is your first time seeing the code “sm30a”, lucky you! If you know the pain, contact me, I may be able to help - even luckier you! :crossed_fingers:

Anyway, as a continuation of yesterday’s EU/US oversized flats, I present to you - the Asian group! 🇯🇵

I’ll start with the more popular ones. Here we have the Pokémon Center My151 and My252 promotion stickers, as well as the Simplified Chinese transparent sticker/card by Blokees. Or at least, we Scyther collectors got it from the Blokees figure box. I’ve started seeing a bunch of these cards around, though, including ones for Pokémon without a figure release (I think), so maybe they’re distributed in a different way as well?

Then, a nice little (no pun intended) variation - those Nagatanien circle menko actually exist in two sizes. The big ones came with a curry box :curry_rice:, while the small ones came with a hotcake box.:pie: There were a few series with better designs and even holo variations, but Scyther only got this one release.

:one: 18 My 151 Campaign
:two: 19 My 251 Campaign
:three: 25 Blokees Classic Version-L Sticker (Chinese)
:four: 98 Nagatanien Curry Menko (Big)
:five: 98 Nagatanien Hotcake Mix Menko (Small)
:six: 05 Bromide Advanced Generation
:seven: 07 Bromide Diamond & Pearl

Now, one of the lesser-known series - the Corris mini sticker books. I still don’t know which side is considered the front and which is the back, but both sides have Scyther, so here are some double-sided comparisons. These come in sets of three, connected by a perforated edge. On 1 side, they have 1 big and 2 small stickers, while the other has some information and a themed print. :open_book:

There is absolutely no documentation for these. Ever. Finding a list of the released sets is a chore, but at least they’re cheap, and usually spending a couple of hours scrolling through Japanese listings is enough to find most, if not all, of them. :white_check_mark:

:one: 20 Coris Sticker Book (Holo)
:two: 20 Coris Sticker Book (Version 2)
:three: 20 Coris Sticker Book (Version 3)
:four: 20 Coris Sticker Book (Version 1)
:five: 23 Coris Sticker Book

And lastly - two types of even bigger items (the biggest I can comfortably fit in my non-TCG 2x2 ring binder) - calendar pages :tear_off_calendar: and postcards.:open_mailbox_with_raised_flag:

The calendar pages come from a series of yearly Pokémon calendars where each page was dedicated to a different Pokémon (seemingly at random). There were at least seven editions, but they’re pretty hard to hunt down because of that randomness, so I only have three. Before and after this period, the official calendars sadly weren’t produced in this Pokédex-style format. :closed_book:

The postcards are a subcategory I’ve learned to appreciate, even though I completely ignored them at first. I currently have four more Scyther cameos flying to me, but none of them are the rare holo version that looks so majestic. I honestly can’t imagine sending someone a card like this :money_mouth_face: only for it to get scratched in the process…

:one: 99 Banpresto Postcard 136
:two: 09 Pokémon Character Daily Calendar Page
:three: 99 Banpresto Postcard 170
:four: 05 Pokémon Character Daily Calendar Page
:five: 06 Pokémon Character Daily Calendar Page
:six: 26 Mega Festa 30th Anniversary (Korean)
