Does this happen often with Funko POPs?

I bought a “new” Funko POP! Charmander figure a few weeks back from www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283961740892. In the description it states “100% Brand New”.

This is how it arrived:

I bought this as a really early Christmas present, so I’ve got plenty of time to replace it, but I’m glad I didn’t buy this last minute.

No this is not usual. This was a way for the seller to save on shipping costs instead of shipping in a box. Ive never received a pop like this

I have never had a pop arrive like this, BUT I actually think this is a good idea! 80% of the pops I have bought have had dents in the box beacuse of shipping so this does look like a good way to avoide this as long as its easy to assemble the box again

Ive ordered over 750 pops and never had a seller do this. Hottopic and Boxlunch have been mailing in bags recently, but I always order enough they are forced to mail in boxes.

That’s shocking lol, not had one shipped that way before!

The seller went to some serious effort to save a buck

So as an update to this:

By the time I’d posted my thread here I’d already gone through the return process on eBay and printed out the return label. I ended up taking it to the post office the next day, and on Monday last week I had a confirmation email from PayPal to say that the refund was being processed.

Everything was going as expected, nothing exciting here.

Fast forward to today and I get an email from PayPal saying that the refund “didn’t complete”. Huh? I opened up PayPal and went into the refund transaction info to see that the status of it was “Cancelled”. I’ve just got off a 20 minute phone call with eBay who explained that the seller had refused to accept the item when a delivery attempt was made, and because the tracking shows that the item was never actually delivered successfully it meant eBay automatically cancelled the refund.

eBay have told me they’ve reissued the refund and I should get the money back in a few days (I’ve had no confirmation of this, mind you) and that where the seller refused the item it will likely end up being redelivered to my address at some point (as that’s the return address on the return label I printed).

You have no obligation to return this to the seller. I’ve had this done to me before on sellers attempting to force a return. I’ve always attempted to re-return the item as a favor, however eBay/Paypal will fully refund you and not require a return.
