Hello, I am living in Japan and recently got back into the hobby of collecting Pokemon cards perhaps from nostalgia of losing all of my old cards as a child. Anyways, I noticed a lot of talk about Mitsuhiro Arita signing events. I hear that he signed a lot of cards in Florida, Hawaii, and Norway r…

Just keep in mind that Arita does have the final say on things and it can always change at his discretion. At the 2nd Arita event in Hawaii, the organizer said he was going to do sketches with his autos but on the morning of the event he changed his mind. Honestly, a lot of people felt robbed and ch…

Yeah that does sound like somewhat of a let down but I would still be happy with just a signature. How much did they charge for a signature at the Hawaii event? At $300 per signature at the Malaysia event, it’s an incredible amount when you don’t even know if he will sign Pokemon merchandise or not…

At Arita’s last event in July it was $239.79 (that’s including tax) for 1 signature with no sketch but came with a shikishi piece. At Arita’s Hawaii Pop Con event in January it came to $225.13 for 2 signatures one sketch. It seems like his prices have been steadily increasing.

Wow yeah I heard they were 20 dollars per signature just a couple of years ago. At the event in Japan tomorrow it’s $250 but no Pokemon related stuff. At the Malaysia event about $300 and no idea what is allowed or not.

Arita, by far, signs more than any other artist. Why not just wait till there’s something more concrete and in the US? This all sounds like a massive gamble to maybe walk away with nothing.

Yeah I live in Japan. I will probably make a trip to the US at some point, but that means I have to line up my schedule, the kids’ schedules, and Arita’s schedule. There is really no guarantee that it will work out for me

One option you could have is to meet him at a non pokemon event in Japan to just meet him. Then just pay to have someone get the pokemon items signed at a future event. That way you can meet him in a way that works for you and still get the autos you want at some point.
