Wouldn’t this be the same for sports cards?

Yep, I am not a fan of sports cards either
Overall, I’m still excited to get my hands on some of these cards, though for me I’m excited because of the opportunity to learn a new TCG. I like that Disney seems to be trying to focus on playability, as this will hopefully keep single prices down for the lower rarity versions of the cards. I’m not blown away by the art, but I was pleasantly surprised by the enchanted rares as before that I had basically zero desire to collect the cards that I want going to use for decks. Might be tempted to pick up a full art or two now, but it definitely doesn’t feel like these cards have the same oomph as Pokemon for sure when it comes to collecting.
Yeah, I was thinking exactly about Weiss. I thought the Avatar one sounded cool, so I watched some of an opening on Youtube and was subsequently disappointed to see just screenshots of the show.
All 12 enchanted cards.
The art’s good but not fantastic.
Some of course are better than others.
The Enchanted rare is kind of underwhelming compared to MTG.
It’s just not comparable at all to Pokemon art, not sure why. Maybe because every they are all Western artists compared to Pokemon’s Japanese ones. Like, they all look good but same-y as in to the style of MTG, FAB.
YGO is ugly AF and I’m not really aware of much else. All too small to matter.
Im hoping they look better in person (most cards do from my experience). It definitely feels different from the pokemon, mtg, and yugioh.
I think the cards look pretty good considering this is the 1st set, chances are it’s only going to get better from here
mz is not even close to the tier of pokemon mtg or yugioh, and i doubt disney could give a crap about mz given their catalog of ip’s
with the recent anti-collector actions from hasbro, i wonder if some casual mtg collectors will give this disney game a try
My LGS is offering pre-orders on singles and sealed now… pretty insane prices to start?!:
I have to admit, I like how they’re looking more than I expected. Will be interesting to see how things go from here.
These cards will be more available than people like to think. Disney isn’t going to leave money on the table. Anyone who pays these hype prices has no brain cells firing.
For sure, and especially if they actually want kids to enjoy it. It would be great to see it readily available and not cornered by investors (too much to ask in 2023?)
I like their “Rainbow Rares” better than Pokémon’s, at least.
One thing I’m curious about is if their MSRP prices will be sustainable. They’re higher than others I assume because Ravensburger has to pay out Disney. It’s not Disney, necessarily, that’s trying to make the money here - at least not directly - it’s Ravensburger’s game to win or lose. If Lorcana starts to flop, I don’t see any financial support from Iger and the top dogs who probably could care less about this game.
I guess it’s good for investors of sealed products.
But this is not pokemon and all my good DIsney-related memories related to 90s mostly.
Can’t imagine myself paying for Disney stuff in 2023…
Yeah, I walked into the only LGS in my area that was carrying it today and walked right back out because they had their packs at this price. I’ll definitely be waiting for it to hit the big box stores at this point. I’m much more interested in playing than collecting so there is no way I’m going in at those prices!
I’m just gonna play the waiting game on this. I don’t think these prices will hold at all. The products aren’t in major retailers yet either. If I can’t find any at Target, then im just going to not open any vs buying some at triple msrp.
My thoughts exactly!
I spoke with a giant buyer/seller in the TCG/CCG space.
Their thoughts were as follows:
Yikes…
