I was organizing some old documents when I found a letter that I had written to Nintendo as a kid. I think I was trying to give them some suggestions on improving the Pokemon card game, but wrongly wrote the letter to Nintendo and not WotC, as the letter kindly pointed out.
This particular letter wasnāt very impressive, but I distinctively remember another time as a kid when I wrote to Nintendo of America and got a Pokemon poster autographed by several Nintendo of America employees. That one has unfortunately been lost to the mists of time (probably thrown away in the course of several moves).
Anyways, did any of you ever write letters to Nintendo, or maybe Wizards as a kid?

I think i wrote to the pokemon company around 2010ish. They sent me some pokemon stickers and a generic letterhead thank you.
Nothing as detailed as this.

Thatās really cool that you still have that letter.
I did write to Nintendo once as a child back in 1998/1999. It was a hand written letter and I remember asking about 10 questions around the card game which had just released. The only question I specifically remember was what the āglass beadsā were for. These were of course the damage counters but I had no idea at the time.
A lady replied to me and thanked my for the letter but said because they were so busy they could only answer three of my questions. They just answered the first three questions in my list.
Along with their reply letter, they also gave me bunch of extra stickers and posters featuring Nintendo characters like Donkey Kong. It was pretty cool to receive a letter from Nintendo themselves when I was about 9 years old.
I may still have some of the items. Iāll have to have a look through my things.

That would be amazing if you found it again! Maybe those stickers were exclusive
. I wish they couldāve answered all your questions if they took the time to answer at all lol.
I remember the first time I wrote them, they said they included a poster but there was nothing except the letter. I wrote back to tell them this. In return, I got a fat envelope second reply with an apology, telling me tongue in cheek that the first poster mustāve been ātaken by evil gremlinsā. It included a poster of some old school sugimori art Pokemon with Nintendo of America staff signatures. I had no idea who they were back then. Really wish I still had it.

Anything Pokemon and Nintendo related was so far removed from reality in my mind, that writing anybody a letter or even participating in Pokemon events never even occurred to me as something that was possible lol. Pokemon was a mythical thing that existed outside of my living world

Haha I know the feeling! I was shocked that anyone replied to my letter too. It felt like a gift from heaven as a kid lol. They probably realized that it was mostly 10 year olds from the handwriting and wanted to be nice to them back then, or get some good PR.

I wrote Nintendo sometime around the late 90s early 2000s for a school project. Iām sure I have the letter somewhere, but I donāt remember what I asked them when I wrote them.
What I do remember getting back was a large envelope filled with a ton of different posters and promotional material and coupons and stuff, along with an incredibly detailed response letter that was not generic or anything. I remember being shocked that they actually took the time to put that package together for me and write a real response.

I wrote to them with a crude design for a flip-open, backlit game boy advance⦠about a year later, the SP arrived. haha. I did send a lot of decorated envelopes to Nintendo Power in the hopes they would feature one in a mag⦠I gotta see if I have any copies. Iāll post if I find them.
I was not shocked, but Ilooking back, Iām surprised now that they did take the time to do that. MY response letter was quite nice. A denial, but nice.
