Diamond and pearl era Gem mint

The past month… and maybe even longer, I’ve been hunting for game mint diamond and pearl cards.

i was able to obtain the base set Dialga but that is all.

why are these cards so hard to find?

was the print run just that small?

do people not have the means to get these graded so they are just sitting in binders?

In my opinion, the diamond and pearl are some of the weakest sets in the hobby. Many of the earlier sets contain only 2 or 3 lv x cards. That era played it too safe when it came to new ideas. Lv x didn’t differ much from ex. Some of the sets like mysterious treasures, great encounters, and secret wonders feel like there aren’t any chase cards. Diamond and pearl had some good sets like supreme victors and storm front. Compare that to maybe the black and white era that introduced a new concept with full arts. Those sets were more successful. So in short, while there are a few really good lv x cards (snorlax lv x) diamond and pearl era hasn’t seen the demand to crack open product and grade IMO

dp era is a bit behind on popularity but since gen 3 era has been catching up pretty well, my guess is dp will follow soon. A lot of cards might come out of binders and be sold then I guess. Just a low demand issue I think

Not an expert on gen 4 though

Yea I completely agree with you. Diamond and Pearl is one of my favorite sets because of Nostalgia but when I was deciding which I wanted to invest in I couldn’t decide because their was no real chase card. I went with the base set because everyone likes original. I hope when younger kids that grew up with it get older and have more income the price begins to reflect.

each set only has about 3 level X cards which makes sense in that they played it safe.

i grew up with EX and LvL x and now I hate V’s which has to be the same reasoning.

Gen 3 still has a LONNNGG way to grow imo, so gen 4 may take years

I’m hoping for a remake so that the demand increases even more.

Yeah I have been hunting them too. The ratios are pretty low for Gem 10s. I don’t know if this is because of print quality or if there is yet to be a wave of sealed product opened(If such a wave ever would arrive).

They are beautiful, historical and there time will come.

All the more reason to get them now while theyre cheap. If gen 4 does take off, thats when you’ll see more incentive to grade and more psa 10s popping up. You could try getting raw minty cards and grading them yourself

DPPt was the time I got back into playing the TCG after many years off, and I also really like the set… and I’m also having a lot of trouble trying to find graded cards. PSA pops are so sparse for many of them.

Diamond and pearl era wasn’t too hard to find near mint some mint ungraded. I also had to buy most of these blind on tcgplayer. Not sure about the graded supply. What I do know is there isn’t a decent priced Luxray level X listed online. Or there wasnt all the times I searched. Only one I seen was a PSa 9 for $200.

If anyone has a light played to near mint Luxray for $35-40 range pm me it’s the last level X I need.

On another note I happen to like heart gold era primes much better :slightly_smiling_face:

Everyone’s always looking for ways to make money from Pokemon - grade some DPPt cards with PSA and sell them to me, ha.
