I had the small binder too and used it to destruction. Those things are worth a lot now if you can find a sealed one. I remember some kid in my school having a Neo Genesis themed one in the same style.
Also, until seeing your pics, I completely forgot about how they used those “Out of Print” watermark things on the checklists for the oldest sets. That was a little blast from the past and I can vaguely remember, as a kid, feeling a bit sad that those packs were gone and that I wouldn’t be buying them again.
Ah man fantastic collection! can’t beat a binder. Can’t wait to do an Eng black star promo binder in the future. This collection thread is just 100% pure nostalgia saturation
I remember that “out of print” watermark also made me sad that I couldn’t buy those sets anymore. But it also made me buy more of the newly released sets as I was afraid of the print run being suddenly stopped.
The pikachu world collection is an awesome collection piece, i kinda regret not picking one up earlier since it’s a great piece of history but it has a bit too much value as a side collection pick now. Also, looks like you had quite a collection already as a kid based on those card lists!
It’s been two years since I first created this thread and I thought it was time for an update. I’ll add my binders as I have time.
Base Set
About 40% complete. Whilst the current pricing boom has slowed my progress, I have still managed to tick off a few more 1st Editions. I’m still hoping to collect a full set of 1st Edition, Shadowless, Unlimited and 4th Print.
About 50% complete. Still a lot of 1st Editions to collect plus the illusive 3rd Print variants. I like the No Symbol errors. They are a neat little misprint.
Amazing update! Slow and steady progress is always the way to go. Really great work in being consistent and slowly checking cards off. The spread looks very nice. Thanks for sharing.
About 60% complete. Whilst it’s not the most exciting set, I do really like the holos. The Cosmos holo pattern looks much cleaner than the original Starlight holo pattern in my opinion.
One of those collections i’m always top tier excited when there’s an update, can’t wait for some completed individual sets but hoping there will be a day when this all will be completed
