When I switched from PSA 10 to CGC gem, the typical price ratio was 1 : 2 to 1 : 4 (besides some low-pop outliers). Seemed like an unjustifiably large gap to me at the time, and still does.
Now that the price gap is more like 1 : 8 to 1 : 15, the only explanation is that PSA 10 collectors are basically just buying NFTs at this point, with the prices so utterly disconnected from the fundamentals that it defies rational justification.

The thing is, this is often not even true lol. There’s conservatively a mid double digit % overlap in the actual condition of cards graded CGC 10 vs PSA 10. I’m still not convinced that I even downgraded at all when I switched.
It would be one thing if PSA 10 buyers were paying 10x for one less white dot. But the funniest thing is that half the time, they’re not even getting that lol. PSA 10s that look like doo doo sell for way more than strong PSA 9s, which should be all the evidence anyone needs to realize that PSA 10 collecting has nothing to do with Pokemon card condition and everything to do with being a Collector’s Universe memorabilia collector.

I wish there was a way to look at insta stories after 24 hours bc there’s a guy who posted dozens of auctions a day or so ago of mostly vintage psa 10s that have dropped a lot in the past month.

I´m curious as well. People talking about the market like Pokémon consists of one homogeneous entity.
There were quite some sales indeed the past weeks, but most vintage PSA 10´s (WotC) have only dropped slightly, or risen by a lot.

None of this means the end times are nigh, but just because a card sells for a tonne once, doesn’t mean it always will - it just means someone really wanted that one card at that time.
