Same here. There are some very gnarly deals.
I was price checking some cards, and maybe this is just me, but seeing a Shadowless Red Cheeks PSA 9 selling for half of an Unlimited Yellow Cheeks PSA 10 just seems wrong. 
I suppose the PSA 10 premium + so many different Pikachu Base Set variations creates this result. But I would take a Red Cheeks PSA 9 over an Unlimited PSA 10 all day.

That’s probably a pretty good sign you should be buying 
. Shadowless is still slept on for some reason. Probably bc its relatively niche. I went through a similar conundrum with ereader cards from 22-24. It made no sense to me why they were so cheap. Now I wish I would’ve bought more when I had the chance.

My wife just texted me that a luxury fashion brand reselling shop which also has a physical store in the city, now added graded pokemon cards into their inventory LOL. Besides that they mostly carry LV, Hermes, Gucci, Goyard bags and apparel. This is legitimately bizarre

That’s a crazy vision, Think about this; We live on a floating rock in the emptiness of space… We are amongst 8.3 Billion people, of whom some (a wáááy smaller number of-course identify as a Cat) AND you & I decided to buy blind bags of collectible trading cards. Which originally were aimed at kids, to rob them of their allowance.. As adults… Wayyyyy before all the others, Genius? What are the odds… During a time of so many wrongs around this world, that finally… A significantly smaller group of individuals on this planet got it so right? So, so right..

And yeah I’ll definitely trim some more cards which are not part of my PC during this frenzy. If you told me the designer bag shop of my wife would eventually carry graded pokemon cards…no better time to sell than this
Anything I buy now to KEEP is low pop, as high a grade as possible, unique in some manner or interesting discussion piece. I cannot fathom a $50-$$$ mid-modern card a year ago doing $2k today having staying power. I have no issue with spending more on what I mention above within reason. Because when the day comes (correction/interest drops) I will own what I like to look at and talk about, is more scarce and should hold some value.
You might not mean it this way, but a PSA for anyone who’s less versed/still learning: low pop does not necessarily mean a card is scarce, nor does it mean they’ll inherently appreciate. Low pop can just mean it’s undesirable or low priority in the eyes of collectors.
Generally, you can reflect on the scarcity of cards without using a pop report.

Oh I understand what you are saying and yes for those new to collecting the “low pop” term does need to be taken with a grain of salt and research as to why.
I however refer to those things which are valuable raw and exceedingly valuable in higher grade due to low pop and demand GS’s, 1st Ed holo’s, Popular errors etc.
And yes collect what you like and if value increases, bonus.
PS I have a friend who leaves every big show holding a “low pop” card and we are all left smiling and shaking our head when we explain why he got such a great deal lol

every once in a while i stop and think how insane it is that a grading company’s label/opinion plays such a massive role in the price of virtually identical cards

BGS definitely making a comeback since they got acquired by PSA and I wonder if people think they will easily cross now
I hope we can easily cross, I have few BGS 9 that I’d like to cross to PSA 9 ..

I noticed this too and was going to make the switch. I have a Ooyama pikachu in a PSA 10 and I’d happily sell for market and purchase a CGC 10 in auction if it meant an extra 3-4K in my pocket.
My plan is to do this with other cards as well depending on the CGC PSA ratio.
