Ok, so I recently bought a CGC 8.5 1997 Fan Book Mewtwo. I’m a little confused as to how this is being graded as it seems EVERY Mewtwo is terribly off centered. From looking at older blue labels, I am seeing centering subgrades simply as “O/C”. How does that affect the grade outcome? One on fanatics has subgrades of O/C, 8.5, 9, 8.5 and was graded CGC 8? It seems CGC labels it error while PSA does not, and it’s worth noting that there IS a couple PSA 10s in existence.
I’m trying to determine if the black label 8.5 I bought is truly a premium copy as CGC has none graded higher. If that’s the case it’s kind of disappointing. If every last Mewtwo was that way than I side more with the concept of giving centering a BYE on this one. Any info here is much appreciated!
The art is very similar to cd/whf Mewtwo, easy mistake to make. I think I may try to cross this to psa in the slab with a minimum grade of 9 selected. There is no CGC 9 or 10 in existence and there’s only 2 PSA 10s and 4 PSA 9s. I’m just not really happy with the way CGC handled this in this case. The centering is how they all are. I did see the mankey you posted though and that’s evidence enough to assume CGC caps the grade.
And if that is the cross grading outcome, honestly I’m very happy with that. Happy as is. Why people sleep on cards like this I have no idea. I paid $200
