Amazing collection
Thought i had the best piplup collection though
If your collection makes you happy, it is equally as good as Citrina’s! As that’s what counts in this hobby
Today marks a truly momentous occasion- the completion of every English set card within the bounds of my collection released to date.
A few months back, I had the pleasure of completing a shikishi commission for @Dyl - it was a wonderful experience, and I absolutely loved the whole process.
In addition to my usual fee for commissioned work, Dyl was so kind as to offer to purchase a card for my collection as a bonus. After looking through my spreadsheet, the Plasma Freeze Empoleon was chosen.
This is the last card I needed to complete one of my big goals for the year- all English set cards for my Piplup collection! I just received this beautiful copy today, and promptly cracked it for the binder.
I am so, so happy to be able to complete this goal for this year. An extra thank you absolutely goes to Dyl for this beautiful card to round out the collection.
There are still English promos to chase, but being all caught up with the set cards means I just need to stay on top of releases, which is much easier (usually!).
Congratulations on completing the English set cards!
Thank you so much! On to all of the other languages now!
Congrats, you sure left a banger as a final piece!
Congrats!!! This is a very cool finish
Congrats! That empoleon is excellent, im really starting to like those plasma freeze artworks
Thank you!! It’s harder to find in good condition than you’d initially think. There are so many listings with the corners chewed off or severely water damaged or what have you.
I appreciate it! It’s kind of wild that I’ve made it this far.
Thank you! Plasma freeze is especially nostalgic for me- it has so many great arts, and the foiling on the secrets is especially beautiful.
Big congrats on completing the English set cards!
And that artwork you’ve made looks amazing. Quite an unique art style as well. Do you share your artwork anywhere to see more, like IG or DeviantArt or something?
Greetz,
Quuador
Thank you! I’m excited I don’t have to play catch-up anymore with English.
And thank you so much! I tend to bounce around a lot stylistically depending on the medium. I’ve got a portfolio of some of my work over at https://citrinarose.carrd.co but I also post over on Twitter@_artbeats and TikTok@citriina - I used to do DA/IG but the art community in both places have unfortunately turned pretty toxic, and I’m too old for the drama, haha.
With the middleman help of the wonderful @joponnes, we have a bunch of new additions to the collection!
Starting off strong, we’ve got two nice little bundles here- perfectly packaged, 10/10, couldn’t have done better myself. The postal worker did ask me if the package was radioactive, though.
And a wonderful signature card from the one and only @joponnes! This is getting sleeved and going in the Piplup binder as well, and will make for a wonderful memory.
On to the cards!
In total, I received 68 cards for the collection! Most are German, as that’s the most difficult western language to come by through easy-to-access sales channels for me. I also received quite a few cards from various other languages, with the highlights below!
This Russian reverse Empoleon makes 3/6 Russian cards acquired! Funnily enough, now I have one each in Russian of Piplup, Prinplup, and Empoleon.
Not one, not two, but THREE Polish cards gets me up to a grand total of 4/9 in Polish as well. I’m just missing the reverses and the LV.X now.
More hard-to-find highlights include these French and German trainer kit Piplups,
as well as these Play! Pokémon promos too.
And finally, one of the cards I was most excited for was the German CHR Piplup! It’s my favorite Piplup art in the entire TCG, and I’m one step closer to having it in all languages!
I’m slowly, slowly chipping away at many of the commons and uncommons, and this update brought my completion to just over 58%. The binder is getting heavy!
This was a bit of a picture-heavy update this time, so thank you for reading if you made it this far, and happy collecting!
Ok but that Russian reverse looks
I’m glad that they arrived safe and i’m always happy to help again if needed, it was interesting to go through so many cards out of my goals
I’m also happy if my extra uranium gift got there safe and sound
I was surprised at how good it looked in person! Gotta find the reverses for the other two now!
I really appreciate it! I’ll be keeping a closer eye on CardMarket in my rotation, and I’ll definitely let you know if anything pops up that I’ll need assistance with!
Lucky it slipped by the postal inspector
I haven’t gotten the chance to update here in a hot second, so here we go!
First up is some assorted trainer kit cards! These can be weirdly difficult to find outside of English, so I was happy to find a seller with a few of them to cut down on shipping costs.
Next up, a Japanese Roseanne’s Research Battle Road promo! I was able to find this one on an auction ending at like 5 am for me, so I got it on a pretty steep discount, which I’m really happy with. The cosmos foil is hard to capture on camera, but it’s beautiful in person.
And finally, we have the CSM1DC GX starter deck Piplup, Prinplup, and Empoleon! Being released in the starter decks, these were annoying to track down- I ended up messaging a seller with the Pikachu/Charizard cards listed and got lucky they happened to have these too, just not put up for sale.
Bonus- with these pickups, I’m at 100% for Simplified Chinese, and that’s my first language entirely complete! Now I just have to keep up with new releases!
Sweet additions, i’m not familiar with the promo but it looks like it has cosmos foil all over the card and that’s always a lovely feature! Congrats also for first completed language!
Thank you!
The cosmos is “supposed” to be confined to the artwork like normal, but this copy has quite a lot of holo bleed! It’s not necessarily uncommon for these to have holo bleed, but this one is fairly strong!
That empoleon looks so raw wtf
