CGC Error Grade Questions

So I have been into collecting error cards for a while now and I recently decided to start grading some of these with CGC for the label recognition.

I started off by sending a small bunch of minor errors as a test submission. Some of these were graded succesfully with the error recognised in the label, whilst a few others were ignored and standard grade was given.

Does anyone else here have experience with CGC errors that could help me understand why the 3 cards did not get recognition, to my eyes there is clearly some form of printing error (albeit minor) on each of these:

Card 1 - Pikachu crimp error, the scan doesnt show it, but as you can see in my own pictures, this card is clearly crimped. I actually received this card directly from a Pokemon Center promo so I am certain it is a legitimate crimp.

Card 2 - Mewtwo V with a random bold white line down the back of the card. I have no idea what this error is called but it clearly shouldn’t be there!

Card 3 - Naganadel & Guzzlord GX missing ink error. This one is about as minor as they come so I can kind of understand why it hasn’t been recognised, that said the entire front and back of the card has many areas where the ink is missing.

So again these were sent as a test and I completely understand they are minor errors at best, I did however still think CGC would recognise them. Am I getting carried away sending cards like this in or should they have been recognised?

In this submission I did send some more in that were recognised, I have also sent in a second submission with very clear and obvious error cards so I will see how they are graded and report back.

You have already spent a thousand fold more time looking at these cards and identifying them than CGC employees have before and after the encapsulation process. So I turn the question to you, why do you care about what they think about your cards?

Ultimately I just like error cards that are graded with the error in the label. I think they are neat, especially with the black CGC label.

Worth a chat I guess. I had labelled the errors clearly when submitting though so my thoughts are they don’t meet their criteria somehow.

#1 probably didn’t meet their standard for crimp error vs damage. They have to draw the line somewhere.

#2 might have been considered sheet-stick. Ink missing from sheet stick is not recognized as an error in my experience.

Unsure about the last.

It’s worth noting that CGC follows some subjective criteria for which errors are significant enough to recognize. I recently got some hand written grader notes in a submission that I thought were funny. “Thank you for your submission sir, come back next time with more error.”

That note is kind of awesome. I think you are probably right. I was a little disappointed with the Mewtwo V as it’s an error I’ve never seen before.

Fwiw, looks like a registration issue on the back that creates the appearance of the white line to me - you can make out the misalignment of the middle section of the back and how it overlaps a bit with the blue border. Still neat and the Mewtwo V is a cool card . Congrats on the error designation on your other ones though

Cgc has a a way to write off an error getting missed as a mechanical error. Email a cgc rep and you’ll more than likely be able to resend it.

There’s the off chance the error isn’t significant and you won’t get the label. I can’t remember but I think you have to label the penny sleeve since the top loader/ card save get tossed before grading
