I love this year’s edition, I think mostly because of how happy Meowth looks. It seems to be having a blast.

I cannot place Shaymin on this card though. I know Lunatone and Solrock represent the Night and Day theming and the Mega in the background are the new Mega released this year. Is Sahymin also important somehow or just random?

Thanks for the updates as always @koala

Cheers!

Budew was in 2025 so I assume Shaymin has some relevance in play. This is a promo that rewards competitive standing after all

Correct, Shaymin can protect your bench, so it’s used in decks. Solrock and Lunatone are also there due to being staples for fighting type decks, not for the day / night theme as these cards almost always highlight cards that were used competitively.

Ahh, makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. I just thought it was pretty direct day/night theming and so they featured those two Pokemon.

Cheers!

Meowth is also a very very very playable card. I would be stoked if I was him too :D. No idea how Fez isn’t on this card though. She has been a staple for awhile.
