This popped up in one of my saved searches this morning. Can it possibly be real and not a scam? When it popped up I read the description and that checked out and the guy has 849 100% positive feedback. Ebay also tells me that I’ve bought from him before. So I pulled the trigger and bought it.
I’m assuming this will probably end in an ebay dispute and I’m not worried about eventually getting my money back. But could it be legit? Prop me up or dash my hopes! Have been looking for a better binder copy than the weak PSA 8 that I cracked and this would scratch the itch.
EDIT: seems fake so treat this as a public service announcement to not buy from this guy. Not sure what is going on but it says the guy has another for sale. I’ll sort it out with ebay. Mod can delete this thread unless you want to leave it as a warning for others.
I have a message string going with the guy. He gave a weird excuse for listing it that way. Seeming very shady. Ebay dispute coming soon. I knew it was likely too good to be true, but figured, “just in case”
Maybe someone else can speak to this phenomenon more informatively, but I’ve noticed a trend of longstanding eBay accounts with perfect feedback histories being hacked to list multiple high-value slabs. Often one of the images in the gallery offers a reduced BIN price, provided you contact a phone number to arrange sale via WhatsApp. So, in this case, it’s possible this was a legit account that was hacked to offer a fraudulent listing.
This happens all the time for other stuff like expensive electronics (consoles, gpus). You look at the recent sales and feedback and see they’ve sold totally unrelated stuff before. This time was probably a jackpot for the hacker since he managed to get an account who sold Pokémon cards before.
Already refunded. Guess I was the sucker today but ebay was really fast at shutting it down. Was def too good to be true. Guess it’s not just the zero feedback accounts to watch out for. It was the feedback coupled with “you have purchased from the seller before” that got me
