Bulbasaur TCG Database - Every Bulbasaur card, all in one place (345 cards, 13 languages), Updated 2025-04-28

2025-05-07: This post was updated for v1.4.

Hello everyone! I’m excited to share a project I’ve been working on - a database of every officially printed Bulbasaur TCG card. Whether you’re a collector or just curious about how many different versions of our favourite grass-type starter exist, this database is here to help answer that question!

This project was born out of my need to have a list of the Bulbasaurs I wanted to collect, and the limited information available for cards in languages other than English or Japanese, and grew from there.

The database currently contains 345 unique Bulbasaur cards in 13 languages, with cameos being the next addition.

What’s inside?

  • Bulbasaur TCG Database – A complete list of known Bulbasaur cards, including details like language, artwork, set (with names in both English and the local language), rarity, illustrator, and more. You can track which ones you want, which ones are on their way, and which ones you have! It also includes images of every card, all standardized to the same size (245 x 342 px) for a clean, uniform look.
  • Cards to Add – A list of cards that have been identified but are still being added to the main database.
  • References – A collection of sources where card images and information come from.
  • Fields Definitions – A guide explaining all the different columns and terms used in the database.

What’s the current status? (at the time of posting)

  • All 13 languages (Japanese, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese (Traditional), Thai, Indonesian and Chinese (Simplified)) are fully documented up to Journey Together / Glory of the Rocket Gang.
  • The next addition should be Bulbasaur cameos on other cards (see “Cards to add”).

The latest version of the database is available here: Bulbasaur TCG Database.

This is still a work in progress, so if you spot any missing cards, errors, or have any suggestions, I’d love to hear your feedback! I hope this will help fellow collectors keep track of their Bulbasaur cards, or even serve as a basis for other collections. :seedling:

Will this include cameos?

Right now it does not include them, and my priority is to finish identifying the cards in Asian languages.
After that I could include them. For now, you can check RotomAmiti's Cameo Pokémon Card Database - Google Sheets to see which cards have Bulbasaur cameos.

I wonder if TPC has as extensive a database as species collectors of what they have printed lol.

Excellent resource. Really well done compiling all of the cards and all the images. Wishing you success in filling in the missing info.

Thanks a lot for sharing it. Also warm welcome to E4 as well. Your spreadsheet is a great addition to the wealth of info that is present on E4.

Cheers!

@KabutopsMaster we need to do this instead

Yeah right

I have just updated the spreadsheet by adding a total of 56 cards in Korean, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Thai, and Indonesian, bringing the total to 344 cards in 13 languages.

If you find any missing cards, typos, etc., or have an idea, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Oh man! You did what I tried to start but failed miserably at due to having no programming skills

I remember seeing a spreadsheet of yours when I was looking to see if anyone had already done one.

How is the collection going? Did you ever update the spreadsheet you made?

Oh that is a very old one. Maybe the first iteration of my spreadsheet. Back in 2021 I made a completely new spreadsheet that I carry on Office 365. It’s easier to edit than Google Spreadsheet tbf and I don’t have to ask ChatGPT every time how things work because Google does things different.

When I made the modern Spreadsheet I made the decision to cut out goals like sealed product featuring, and cameo cards. This tightens it all up. I recently made it up-to-date because prior to Secret Santa I was kinda out of it and basically hinted at “if its not in the sheet, I don’t have it”.

Bulbasaur Collection 2021.xlsx

Every time I look at it I still got the feeling I missed a modern release. Because frankly most of late 2023 and 2024 I’ve been out of it.

[edit]
Now I saw one of my early spreadsheets, which I somehow lost, I see I had so many cool features on it that I removed. Now I am trying to work out how I can edit those back in :stuck_out_tongue:

Italian Secret Wonders Prodigi Segreti doesn’t exists in Reverse Holofoil. It was almost prepared to launch in 2-packs, but that never happened.
I can’t find in your file Chinese CSMPa CS 002 regular and reverse foil.

Thanks for the heads up, I have updated the spreadsheet to reflect this information. I had placed that it had reverse holo according to what was published in Bulbapedia, but I guess they got that information wrong.

And thanks also for sharing your Bulbasaur collection on Facebook, several of the Base Set card images came from that post (and eventually from the PSA site).

I take this opportunity to ask, do you know anything about “csvEI C”?

If you want to let me know what you were trying to do, see if I can help you implement it in your Excel spreadsheet or add it to mine in Google Sheets.

Mine was originally in Excel too, since I’m more skilled with it. The two main reasons I switched to Google Sheets was to be able to share it more easily and because it is easier to associate an image with a specific cell.

Interesting, I assume you mean specifically Bulbasaur, as the set generally definitely has reverses in Italian looking at an opening. So, this is some kind of EX Dragon TV Reporter situation except that there isn’t another print run including it?

English is not my first language, so I apologize for the unclear sentence. Yes, this set has Reverse Holo cards in Italian, but Bulbasaur, among other cards, was not produced. 2pack - Version 1 was supposed to contain a card with Squirtle or Carvanha. 2pack - Version 2 was supposed to contain two cards: Bulbasaur + Charmander or Shellos Mare Est + Shellos Mare Ovest. Unfortunately, this product never went on sale and was never available in any wholesaler, and I talked to every distributor who worked on the Italian market at that time. I tried to get this product even as a test or non-production product, but unfortunately, despite a absurd budget, it did not work out and each time the conclusion was that this product did not hit the shelves in Italy. Interestingly, everything was almost ready, because even the booklet with the list of cards included with the products from this set in the Italian version contains information that Bulbasaur exists in the Reverse Holo version. As you can see, they had everything ready and at the very end they did not release the products. On the Internet I found strange information that these products were sold as pre-release, but none of the distributors ever confirmed it, what’s more, none of the products I described were ever listed in the wholesaler’s database and did not have a photo of the product.

Recently I scanned all my PSA Bulbasaurs, since No Rarity up to current set. Scanning almost 400 PSA slabs was a challenge! I hope to share it shortly. I asked my friend from China about csvEI C just now.

EDIT: yeah, csvEI C…
