BUEFFES Collection of mostly Japanese Pokémon cards

Hi everyone,

I felt like starting a collection thread for my collection as well. I unfortunately don’t have many friends who share this hobby so I can’t really share my stuff with friends. I tried Instagram but it feels not very satisfying to me. Sometimes I feel so excited about a new addition and I want to talk about it but I cant. So I thought this thread would be great way to share my collection.

I’m starting today with some of my favourite cards and things but I try to post a mix of old and new stuff. I’ll probably post more in the future.

For a lot of years I only collected Japanese promo cards and no sets. I only started again to collect sets in 2021. So the core of my collection are promo cards.

So let’s start!

The university Magikarp is one of my all time favourite cards. It was on my wishlist for a very long time. I like the classic and simple card design but also the unique way it was obtained. It always fascinates me. Also the quiz to obtain it was super difficult. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t been able to get all answers right.

One of my other favourites is the Fan Club Porygon. I love that they put the slot machines in the background which is a reference to the games. I also love the goofy art style.

One of my more recent favourite additions to my collection is the 25th anniversary creatures deck wooden box with accessories. There are no cards in it anymore. I still think it is very cool to think that this was in hands of a Creatures employee even without the fancy cards. The only card I still own of the deck is Aurora energy with detective Pikachu on the back side which represents the year 2019.

I’ll update this thread from time to time.

A great day to everyone!

Regards

B.

Oof, really amazing showcase of cards with the first collection thread post. I always say, Japanese promos are the best and seeing those cards in collections always makes me happy. Thanks for starting the thread and posting your cards. Looking forward to seeing more of you posts.

Cheers!

Nothing too fancy today but I just received some commons for my Rocket Gang Binder. The Drowze and Magikarp will replace the ones I had already in my binder because they are in a better condition. The Porygon was missing completely.

I have to say I just love the art on these. Maybe it’s just the nostalgia but I just enjoy the common cards of these early sets so much.

Not exactly a card but I just bought the Booklet for the stamp rally that took place in Korea during the Metamong Project in Lotte World.

I just love to collect these pieces of interesting stuff especially if it’s accompanied by a cool Ditto promo card.

I’m looking forward looking through it since I didn’t see all of its contents yet.

I was working on completing this Rocket Gang binder for a while now. But it’s finally (almost) done.

The only card missing would be the Kamex Mega Battle Computer Error (I hope I can add it sooner or later).

I wanted to do a small update. This binder is now completed. I had the goal to collect all promo cards that came in Gym Pack promos during the SV era. So here it is. There are a few participation awards included here as well but they are just an extra in this binder.

I really liked that after the first few packs they had this ongoing theme of one artist doing a basic and stage 1 Pokémon (starting from Pack 5).

Awesome! Congratulations on being able to finish this sub-set. Some of my favourites are the Wooper - Quagsire, Drifloon - Drifblim and the Psyduck - Golduck cards. They are really well done and have beautiful artwork!

Thanks for sharing. Well done!

Cheers!

Thank you :folded_hands:t2::blush: yeah I think my favourite is he Quagsire, too closely followed by Psyduck

Hi everyone,

Another small collection update. I purchased this 2008 World Champions Paul Atanassov Deck back in 2010 (I think) in my local game store. I just loved the looks of it with the signed cards and the cool backside. I usually concentrate on Japanese cards but for nostalgia reasons I want to keep this in my collection. The only problem is hat the foil always scares me when Im handling it because I’m afraid to tear it.

So finally I ordered a custom little case for this. It’s not a perfect fit because the minimum depth I could choose from is still a little too much but it’s far better then without any case.

Hi everyone

Not really a update in the sense of added cards but an update of what I’m thinking at the moment regarding my collection.

I had a conversation with a friend of mine who was collecting Pokémon back then but not anymore. He asked me why I’m collecting sealed packs and booster boxes. I somehow needed some time to think about it.

I came to the conclusion that I like to collect some sealed products for two reasons.

Number one is that a sealed pack has a certain magic. It’s exciting and thrilling holding it and being about to see what’s inside. Keeping things sealed somehow preserves that feeling for me whenever I hold for example sealed pack in my hands.

Number two is that I like to preserve some part of Pokémon history in my own little hobby museum. And I think it’s just cool opening old packs from time to time. I previously purchased some old sealed products to open myself and this is only possible if someone else out there collects sealed stuff.

I know it’s maybe a boring update but I thought its important for myself to remind me sometimes why I like to collect what I collect.

Hi everyone,

The reveal of the new 100 Start Deck made me really excited. I loved the 2021 version. This concept is such a great idea!

Back to then I started to collect a master set but until now I didn’t complete it. Maybe I’ll take the upcoming new 100 Start Deck as a motivation to finally finish the first version.

I’ll post it as soon as it’s complete. Until then I can at least share the 100 Start Deck Display and the Corocoro Version Deck.

I really like the digital artwork on these but I think the new version looks even better!

The coro coro is underrated since you had to buy the magazine and send in the attached invitation in order to buy the deck.

Yeah you are right. There were some extra steps to take in order to obtain it. And the Corocoro stamp is ready cool, too!
