What a wonderful day in the life of E4! I pop on, and there are not one, not two, but three of my favorite collectors’ updates (just the morning after another *Cough Azul*), following the night of this occurrence?
I received it, after the long wait (almost 2 months).

My dream card. The dream card that makes up dreams. Prepare for a lot of dreaminess and the use of the word dream.
Porgyon has always been one of my favorite Pokemon–the concept, the lore, the uniqueness, etc. Every card he’s been released on has been special. But there is something extra special, remarkable about this one. The colors are lysergic, jazzy, mathematical, cybernetic. My eyes get lost in the cosmos that is the “sky” of the background. The void. Very 64-bit reminiscence. Dark matter. The edge of the dream world. The slots and games evoke that isolated, islandic space of the dreaming conscious that you escape to, that you dwell in when you yearn for magic, just as I did when playing Red and Blue. I can’t put into words, further, how exactly this space transports me beyond the realm. It just does.
There is nothing that serves as greater testimony to Imakuni’s genius. It is one thing for fans to recognize the motivation and brilliance of concept after the fact–but for the creator to understand the significance, to have the foresight and vision to interpret the Mon in such a fantastical and truthful way, and depict it so faithfully, and simultaneously symbolically (and representatively)… that is genius.
As someone else had said, the fact that he is synthetic, computer programmatically manifest energy, and found amongst these slot machines, just as he was a winner prize in Red/Blue, he is thusly a fan Club Card needing prize points to attain. Is there greater lore, greater nodding love to the legacy of Pokemon incarnate? Hell, even needing the most points for the Fan Club is an ode to the original difficulty obtaining him in the game.
And now the ode to Imakuni’s Dream Porgyon is complete. Behold, the masterpiece:

I also want to thank @azulryu especially. This has long been on my dream list, but he woke me to action in getting it. It was his experience (coupled with being on E4 for a long time and seeing it come and go through the years) that helped convince me I ain’t gettin’ any younger, and the card ain’t gettin’ any cheaper! So I just buckled up and clicked the high bid! Couldn’t be happier. Thanks to everyone as always in inspiring me to go for what I love.
