So, I go to My Ebay → My Account → Site Preferences and on Buyer’s Requirements I set a list of people who cannot bid or contact me. I added two users, clicked Send. And nothing happened at all…is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?
Blocked buyers can still contact you, they just can’t purchase or bid on anything. If the communication escalates to harassment or a language that violates eBay’s TOS you can contact ebay and have the communication documented… this allows for future corrective action if eBay deems it necessary.
If the buyer sent a question of an item BEFORE you blocked him/her, then that buyer will still be able to send you messages for that same item. Other buyers will not be able to.
You would think that… but messages can still be sent even if you haven’t discussed an item and regardless of the block buyer list by using the “contact” option on the seller’s page. That’s why its important to know you can ask eBay to step in if there’s someone who’s sending harassing or abusive types of messages.
I tested it using a few older un-linked accounts and and a brand new one I just created and it still works. There may be some cases that it doesn’t work but ebay seems to still support this feature at least on all my US accounts.
