So today I get the notification my 12 pocket Dex Protection Binder is at home!
Being so excited to finish work and get my Rocket sets in their ‘to be’ new home.
Only I am…disappointed.
The binder is cool. Feels nice. Looks great. Love the red backing inside. Very Team Rocket. But the cards themselves are loose asf! All the way through the binder. Flicking though the pages the cards move all over the place. Really putting a sour taste.
Ive even changed the sleeves to some thicker kmc hard. But not much better.
So with that being said. Anybody else had this problem?
Should I try a thicker sleeve? Or any other binder suggestions would be cool.
Very weird. I use Dex Protection binders and I don’t have that issue at all. For sleeves, I use KMC perfect fits + Dragon Shield clear classics. Not sure how thick the KMC hard sleeves are, but the Dragonshield + perfect fit combination makes the card pretty thick, though I only put cards on one side of each binder page. They don’t shift around much at all.
I’m using the Dragon Shield Codex Binders with Dragon Shield Perfect Fit Sleeves. The sleeves don’t fill out the whole space in their designated slot, but they still don’t move around if I turn over the page carefully. I used regular Penny Sleeves and they fill out the space almost perfectly. The problem with the penny sleeves was, that some were too big or the slots were too small which made the sleeve crease a little at the top which is why I went for the perfect fit sleeves.
Wait: by KMC hard do you mean the KMC perfect fit hards? If so, then yeah the cards are going to shift around a TON. You need to have a larger outer sleeve (even a penny sleeve will work for this purpose, but I’d recommend Dragon Shield or Ultra Pro deck protectors).
I really like the Dragon Shield Codex Portfolio binders. I haven’t had any issues with cards sliding around in them and they don’t have the issue that a lot of ringless binders have with pages that won’t lie flat. The ones I use with the black cover seem to be out of production, having been replaced by ones with some awful art on the front.
I use a dex 9 binder with ultra pro sleeves and get 0 movement at all. Dex binders have been a great go to for a lot of people for years, I’m thinking it’s just the sleeves you’re using
