I don’t think it has anything to do with last years data breach. They very clearly state that its about upgrading their website and systems. Most likely because they’ve been using a dated PHP based backend and disjointed schema. Now they’re owned by Collectors who uses modern web tech (Next.js based) that can be repurposed/rethemed for their other companies, such as Beckett.
I would take them at their word for it. Their website and backend was a total mess and even in the age of GPT-6 Astra and Fable 5, its not as simple as saying “update my website” to pull of a migration like this.
I’m tempted to post the meme again.
Their services and website were updated to give the illusion it is working again, but it’s not really. You still can’t check your account at all. I’ve never heard of an upgrade or migration taking this long.
I still favor my hypothesis that they realized there were vulnerabilities, especially after RubyGems/Hugging Face stuff, and since they may have delayed upgrading systems for years, in order to get the security patches you essentially have to re-write your application on newer major package versions. I went through it personally and it’s not easy. Maybe now with AI coding it is easier, I found the AI usually spits out undocumented API’s and obscure code when dealing with older web dev.
How long has it been down or unusable?
People reported issues in late July on Reddit. PSA gets hit with RICO lawsuit. In early August they shut most normal submissions down. Sept 7th it goes totally down. Recently they introduced some third-party form submission site to get submissions back, but there is no account or order status access still today.
The submission form, when you hear about it in the video is scary.
How will this work with eBay authentication?
Does eBay simply check the cert matches?
If the website is down, does the authenticity “fail” and get sent back to the seller?
Well I’ve used and logged into the site as recently as the beginning of this month without issue and while I wouldn’t count out there being something more going on related to security, it has been expected that they will upgrade the Beckett website and pop report at some point after the acquisition. It’s more likely, in my opinion, that they’ve tasked someone who is not quite up to the task with the job of migrating Becketts web platform to something newer than it is that they’ve been breached again and are actively covering it up with the promise of a new website.
Its reasonable to assume its not the data breach from last year or a new one considering there is not yet anyone claiming responsibility for a data breach this time around or shopping the stolen data around again like last time
the US government DID just drop a bunch of UFO stuff. Coincidence? Heh. I think not!
The guy who made the video did a good job. We noticed all the same things independently. The form is very sketchy since it is a third-party service.
The Reddit claim about shipping being modified while in transit is very concerning, I had not seen that part yet.
Here is that thread:
When Beckett use the phone line they have to unplug the internet
You’d have to be not in a good mental state if you are sending cards to Beckett right now through their 3rd party thing, when there is no proof of submission on the Beckett website that you can access and confirm your cards.
The fact they even offer the 3rd party form is silly. Just wait til whatever this is is all worked out.
no clue but the auth passes just fine had a buncha stuff go thru shits been down for weeks ![]()
ppl actually send cards to beckett

This is an excellent question! I just spent 30 mins with eBay chat trying to find an answer. They said they would email me in 1-3 days. Their AI said they use a separate vendor for authentication.
eBay should not be able to offer authenticity guarantee on BGS items until the website is functional again. They certainly are still now.
As a BGS fan AND the owner of a comms/marketing company all I can say is…
Their communication throughout this has been DIABOLICAL and indicates either a huge issue they have uncovered (eg. database theft) or at least something that was not planned.
Any website updates would have been done on a staging site with a specific timeline.
Honestly this is wild.
Guys what would likely happen to blacklabel prices if bsg just stops existing cease operations so to speak
Surely it will be binary. Either omega moon or bust
