Aus FB group being investigated for raffles

I guess people easily forgot that even the google “randomizers” can still be rigged with some code :stuck_out_tongue: Raffles are shit and have always been a scam in one way or another

It’s way too easy to just make a fake account and declare that account the winner every time you do a raffle. Gambling means you at least have a chance of winning, many of these raffles are straight scams run by con artists.

I feel we’re gonna have problems with ‘raffles’ in the hobby for many years to come

Looks like the temporary work around for the admins will be that everyone who enters the now rebranded ‘lucky dips’ will get a token prize with the major winner getting the ‘major prize’.

I think it’s pretty specific to the state of Victoria, VCGLR is a State Govt body with no jurisdiction outside of the state. I’m not sure where FB groups land as they don’t have a real location? If for example the admins were all based out of QLD, I’m not sure whether VCGLR could take any action? Then again as it’s just FB page there are plenty of Victorian residents on those pages, It’s an interesting one.

I need these pancakes…
