I recently started collecting Pokemon cards again, and I have a quick question about PSA 7 Shadowless Base Set cards.
Essentially, are they worth the long-term investment?
I know PSA 9-10 is obviously the cream of the crop and that even PSA 8 Shadowless cards are very valuable, but how about PSA 7s? And I’m not talking about your Charizards and your Blastoises. I’m talking about your Magnetons, your Chanseys, your Ninetales, etc.
The price point for these PSA 7 Shadowless cards seems to be relatively low right now. Do you think the value of these cards will increase over the next several years? Or will they basically always stay in the shadow (no pun intended) of PSA 8-10?
With such a limited release, I definitely think shadowless PSA 7s will grow long term. It has already in 1st edition, especially Charizard. Pokemon is relatively new, and as the years go by, the cards will appreciate in value as Pokemon becomes a older hobby.
That was my thought process, too. PSA 7 is still considered near-mint, and given that Shadowless had such a limited print run, I would assume that they would become somewhat valuable down the line.
Heck, the other day I saw a PSA 6 1st Edition Hitmonchan attracting a swarm of bidders, so that kind of raised my eyebrow a bit and made me think PSA 7 Shadowless cards might be a smart investment.
i dont think they will increase too much there different from the 1st edition set as thats alot more desirable to collectors overall i think they will increase and charizard will defiantly increase
More people collect PSA8s, 9s and 10s, but not many collect PSA7s and/or lower. The reason with the PSA7 1st edition charizard is simply, well, its a 1st edition charizard. In my opinion, PSA7s are only for collectors who are in it for the card(be it for its species or to complete a set), but not the grade.
Years ago people dismissed 8-9 grades, now they have established values. With time + sustained demand, I think the 7 will have an established value. It already does for the charizard, and for 1st ed base holos. Also, it is incredibly difficult to find actual nm-mint ungraded Shadowelss holos. That ungraded supply will most likely decline as well with time.
