Aquapolis Popularity

I grew up collecting base set when I was a kid and ended up getting into the Yu-Gi-Oh fad so I missed out on a lot of later sets. I know Skyridge is sought after, why is Aquapolis so overlooked? I started doing some digging and found numerous holo cards with extremely low pop 10s and there are some listed for under $60 and nobody is biting. I realize some pokemon are more sought after but it appears not many people are interested in a PSA 10 set. Anyone care to tackle this for me? I am not very familiar with the set but I feel the artworks are amazing.

Set popularity suffers from scarcity of boxes/packs, meaning that the asking price for booster boxes is astronomical compared to the contents inside.

You are right about it being a set with some amazing artwork, though.

You would think the rarity would draw in more collectors. I find it very interesting. I wasn’t sure if this set was released during a downtime for pokemon, as people cannot connect well with this set as they may with others?

I think you could point to Aquapolis as perhaps the first rumblings of Pokemons initial post Gen 2 decline in popularity. I also think that the fact that the set is gigantic hinders it as well. It doesn’t have Crystal Charizard/Celebi/Ho-Oh to prop it up against that either.
