Howdy folks, quick story: I recently bought a huge lot of “bulk” (base, jungle, and fossil) cards. As I was sorting through everything I noticed this 1st edition ekans border was two different shades of yellow. Lighter yellow on the horizontal portions and a darker yellow on the vertical portions, it is like this top and bottom, with a perfect straight line where they meet. There were 50 or so more 1st edition ekans before and after it and several other 1st edition fossil commons and uncommons in the same lot. None of the other cards were like this and I’ve never seen this before anyway. I’m assuming most the cards in the lot came from booster packs and went right into the storage box as they are all mint.
Anyone else ever seen this? Encountered this? Is it a rare occurance? Do only 1st ed. fossils do this? Id love to know any and all information about it. Thanks in advance! I appreciate any people’s time posting.
How can you tell? To me it looks like a card that had the upper line stick out of a sleeve/binder, and due to sunlight fading the upper half got a lighter yellow as a result.
It isn’t fading from the sun, the top and the bottom of the card is like that. The card has never been in a binder either, its spent it’s whole life in the storage box I believe. But ahh whoever made the comment about having jungle cards have this happen that’s awesome. Perhaps it’s just an error that happened every once in a while? Thanks for all the input everyone
