I noticed the big battery warning label on some kits in a store today. What an eyesore.

Yeah I agree. I get the safety measures, I have 2 small kids and tiny batteries like that are a risk…but what’s wrong with the back of the box for stuff like that? I keep big lego boxes like this for posterity…

Or even on the front but just…smaller. I’d guess on the smaller boxes the label is the same size, it looked to take up a lot more space on the boxes I saw in Target.

One of my colleague recently built this, and I saw it at our recent D&D session. It looks pretty cool in person, especially the back. Best of luck with the build.

So, I’ve actually used legos to fix components of my car. NOT safety related, mind you, but sometimes, legos are just quicker than 3D printing a 1-off part that I can’t buy anywhere. Or making costume props out of legos and painting them. I may not know the design of the part I need, but I can immediately know what legos I need to do it. Were I more adept at 3D printing, it probly be different. But Legos are more durable and easily fixable, and it works!

lol. Right? Again, nothing unsafe or mechanical.
So, in older cars, there is a nub that slots into the brake pedal. When the pedal is depressed, the nub releases a button that lights the brake lights. This nub broke off of both my cars in college and instead of trying to find the 40 year old part, I just made it with legos. No safety issues. but kept my battery from dying, so A+.
The catch for my glove box door broke off, and I couldn’t replace it without replacing the dash… 
So I used a lego plate to replace it, and screwed it into the dash. The durability and size options are perfect.
Those windshield mountings for additional mirrors dashcams, etc often soften and tear in the SoCal heat. I got a different mounting with a magnetic attachment and created a fixture for the mirror with a magnet to attach it, and it is still lighter and smaller than the BS ones that keep breaking, PLUS, I can remove the mirror and replace it to keep the weight from popping off the windshield while parked.

I was also given a Technic Porsche 911 that I’ve been working on. I would not recommend sorting and building an opened 2,700 piece Technic set…

Their strong identity is what I love about them. Consistent look across all of them just makes the group great for displaying.
I originally collected just the cities I had been to. Eventually I had over half the sets doing that so I just commited on working towards the full line. Still missing 2.
